3. My mom was afraid for him to go to Dallas.
And that was decades before we knew about other near misses he'd had. But like today, it was in the air.

4. I had no idea how much they hated him until he was dead
Then a few of our neighbors made some comments and 10 year old me was just crushed. I can still remember how very painful it was.

I was in elementary school when JFK was killed. It was a shock that we have never, ever gotten over as a country.
