Poll question: Financially supporting President Obama's second term
Will you donate to Obama's campaign in the next election cycle?

1. Donate? Using what? I haven't worked in 9 months.
My guess would be that the money given by the rich and big business will assure their interests are looked after much more than us regular people.

2. Of course I'm supporting Obama vs. whatever republican they pick.
Anyone who thinks there is no difference between the parties sounds like Ralph Nader in 2000 talking about Gore vs. Bush. There is a big difference despite the rhetoric and hyperbole.

4. Amen. I may not agree with some things, but I'm sure as hell
going to vote to try to prevent a republican president. It really pisses me off when people refuse to vote knowing how much worse it will be with a republican.

7. I strongly disagree with him on many of his decisions, but I'm not 6 years old.
So, I'm going to pout in the corner. If Obama isn't re-elected, we may look back at Bush as "not being too bad" if one of these loony republicans gets in office.

9. Ok if they put up Bachman that's one thing
What if they put up a more centrist candidate? No one you would vote for of course, but not a nut job. Would that change the equation for you?

3. Two words... President Bachmann.
I don't want that. I know that the current President is counting on this fact. I feel used, but the alternative is still much much worse.

so, reluctantly, yeah I am going to sent the CREEP (or whatever) $$$.

And $$$ to as many progressive candidates for Congress and Senate that I can.

A low turnout will mean the loss of the Senate and a possible Presidential win by some right wing nutjob. We've seen that play already with Shrub... I don't want one of the last decades of my life to be a worse repeat.

8. They called yesterday ....... I asked to be removed from their list.
The guy on the phone was almost speechless. "Financially, you've been one of our strongest supporters" ..he said.. "what happened?" "If you don't know by now, I replied, then I would not be able to explain it to you anyway." ....... "Good Bye"

14. My money is going to progressive candidates only.
That will likely only be at the Congressional or Senatorial level.

But I won't give one dime to anyone who:

-wants anything less than full equality for LGBT - marriage, benefits, the whole nine yards
-is against raising taxes on the wealthiest Americans
-wants to weaken or undermine Social Security or Medicare/Medicaid
-does not support unions
-does not support environmental responsibility and clean energy
-does not want to bring military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan to a swift close
-does not want to reign in the bloated defense budget
-and several other factors that I could go on about for hours...

Essentially, I will only give to candidates whose principles are DEMOCRATIC. Having a D behind their name just doesn't cut it anymore. Too many DINOs. Likewise having a G or I behind their name doesn't automatically exclude them anymore.

So that's my plan on where to donate.

My plan on who to vote for will be decided ticket by ticket. It's real simple. Who stands for the principles outlined above the strongest and closest gets my vote.

15. He has seen his last dime from me.
I will consider supporting progressive candidates that have a record of backing up what they say with actions, not just pretty speeches.

2008 has been a bittersweet lesson for me to learn from. "Hope and change" turned out to be nothing more than bullshit campaign slogans and I don't intend to get fooled again.

I want a fighter not a prevaricator. He had the single greatest shot in a generation to consign the gop to the trash-heap of history, and instead he breathed life back into the corpse and negotiated with the very people that hate him with a white-hot passion.

'Change' did not mean changing the way business was done in D.C., it meant it was time to 'change' who was running the place...I never wanted negotiations and bi-partisanship, fuck that, I wanted revenge. I wanted the rich to get taxed back into the stone age, I wanted war crimes trials and I wanted the Environment to be so protected that even the wild animals were afraid to soil it. I wanted free health care for all Americans, I wanted Wall Street tied up in a box, and I wanted the endless wars ended. Instead I got fucked. Well, no more. If he needs money he should go and get it from the folks whose interests he has been serving since taking the oath of office, and that can't possibly be me because I don't have "Inc" after my surname..
