Anyone remember CNN ANCHOR Tony Harris? He moved to Al Jazeera, English
(IMHO..he fucked the place up...and made it like his former CNN.. WikiPedia seems to show links he worked for FOX NEWS STATIONS most of his life. I've been watch Al Jazerra since the Egyptian Revolt... His addition is NEW in that time slot. He's not a person I want to watch when I'm looking for news that isn't Tainted by Corporated Owned "stuff".... Just saying)

Tony Harris Lands At Al Jazeera English

Former CNN anchor Tony Harris—who left the network in December—has found a new home: Al Jazeera English.

Harris has moved from Atlanta, where he was based for CNN, to Doha, Qatar, the main headquarters of Al Jazeera. He began anchoring for the network on Tuesday, reporting on the health issues of former Egyptian leader Hosni Mubarak.

In a statement, Harris said, "I’m really pleased to have joined. Having an interest in news from around the world, I was attracted by AJE’s global focus and look forward to being involved in stories from all points of the globe. It’s a very exciting time to be coming on board."

Harris was on CNN for six years where, among other things, he anchored "CNN Newsroom."

5. He worked at our local Fox affiliate station. He's actually
a nice person. I met him at a charity event. Plus, when he was here in the Baltimore area, he was sort of outspoken on behalf of the poor, those with health needs, spoke out on behalf of S-CHIP when it was an issue in Maryland. You might not like his personality, but I think he has a good heart. I'm glad he found another position.

7. Well thanks for your observation. I'm always hoping for one or two newspersons to "care" about
anything...but anyone who "got their start at Faux and continued with them" is of course suspect ...given Fox News Track Record.

I still have to say, though, that his "anchor slot" at "AJ News" make him sound like CNN NEWS...so he struck me as a "plant," given what we all know about CNN and Operation Mockingbird.

But, thanks for you view.

6. Maybe they will make him stick to real journalism.
I like Al Jazeera as an alternative news source and would be very sad if it starts turning into the other MSM.

11. That's MY worry...that maybe "CNN International" did some deal with "AJ" that made
money and so now "AJ" will become a propaganda channel for USAID/CIA.

I got worried when Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton said she wished we had "Al Jazeera News" here in US. (not exact quote but close, I believe)

Maybe the US State Department got their wish. :eyes: I was not impressed with his job as anchor tonight on "AJ." He sounded like he was still over here in US at CNN.... But, I'll give him a few more watches just to make sure that my initial reaction isn't off base.

8. Fox affliates are not the same as Fox News Channel.
It looks like he mostly worked for the local affiliates NOT FNC.

There's a big difference.

9. I hope it doesn't mean that Al Jazeera is catering to
the US in order to be able to broadcast here. That would be a shame.
