4. That last line is EXACTLY right. That's the lesson here.

Look closely, this guy was talking about war with Muslims. Why then did he attack a bunch of unarmed children? The same reason he was that afraid of the Muslims in the first place, the same reason he probably had a politics that worshiped strong wealthy people at the expense of the weak and sickly, the same reason he took issue with hippies, the most peaceful stick-to-themselves people: Because he was a total freaking pussy! He was afraid to stand up to the powerful so he took up war against unarmed children with guns.

That's the lesson here. The only safety from this kind of nut job is in strength, in standing up to his kind.

Nor am I'm advocating an armed response. That's just as crazy as they are.

I pretty much believe that people who consider using guns in a civilized society as a "self-defense" option are people who have decided to devoid themselves of all other options for far too many circumstances.

With the notable exceptions of armed wingers shooting liberals, innocent bystanders and innocent victims of crime, it's been my observation people who are armed are most likely the first ones getting shot. That's pretty much why I avoid guns… But that's just me.

It's not necessary to be armed for someone to watch their own back.
