Ok a few things that are striking
1.- Norquist has told his pledgees, that this needs to be raised. He is "concerned" about the US Economy... translation, he is worried he will be blamed and I am BETTING on a few calls from the business community.

2.- Boehner has no control of the same children Norquist exacted pledges from.

3.- The Republican party is walking away from a generational victory... they cannot accept 88% of what they want. My way or I blow the economy.

4.- At this point I hope the President and his lawyers are seriously looking at an executive order (14th amendment)

5.- At this point the best that COULD HAPPEN is a clean bill, with nothing attached.

I don't expect number five. and yes, I do expect the new Whigs, aka our modern day Republicans, to go as close to default, or over the line, as possible At this point we need to talk about these RADICALS, period.

1. I think they will hand it off to Obama to accept responsibility...
for raising the debt and the Repubs will take credit for not raising taxes. Both sides will claim victory.

4. Yeah but at this point I think "the average joe" who never pays
attention has an inkling of the radicalism at play here.

Of course they may, nay most likely will, forget it next week... but the adds or the 2012 campaign are writing themselves. right now.

7. The House especially.
I am seeing some DU'ers saying "it is all just political theater."

House Republicans aren't play- acting. They are fanatics on a mission.

12. What is scary is that a year ago I said... the Tea Party will do this
they wan to sink the government, to preserve what they think is good... problem is the children do not understand that they will sink their beloved Empire too.

14. unrec for snide, nit-picking reply that is nothing but a complaint.
anyone who has watched the news knows that "it needs to be raised" refers to the debt ceiling...

its glaringly obvious what the OP meant, and that it was also a simple mistake to omit that word..

Confusing? not at all. Lecturing? Sorry, didn't see it...

that you don't like my post and respond to it petulantly, is rather sad.

17. Hmm..Lets dissect your petulant and sad response to the OP
"Norquist has told his pledgees that what needs to be raised?"

Again, anyone watching the news knows that OP is referring to the debt ceiling... Granted, if someone stumbles upon this post 5 months from now, they might be wondering what Grover is talking about..
So kudos to you for defending us from confusion 5 months in the future!

Otherwise, you nit-picked.

"You neglect to inform us of you're referring to."

you neglect to inform us of you are referring to? Wha? Don't call OP's post ill written when THAT is your response.

peace.

18. The best thing that can happen is that
Obama goes ahead and raises the debt ceiling a la his executive authority thus removing a hostage from the psychopaths that currently constitute the GOP.
