Employee told they are rude, ungrateful and insulting
Company is having layoffs and the employee went to HR and requested and was assured they would be removed from receiving either a bonus or pay raise, in order to be less of a target for layoffs. Then when their management found out they were informed that action was rude, ungrateful and insulting to their mangers and the company. How is protecting yourself ungrateful, rude or insulting?

1. Are you the employee?
A little more info would be nice.

2. Not sure that was the best move -
Companies will pay to keep their best employees (that includes bonuses and pay raises). Why ask them not to pay you? If they are going to lay off they are going to do it - whether you like it or not. I can appreciate you wanting to keep your job, but performing well and staying under the radar might be a better way to go about it.

3. employees are there to make money, not be management's friend.
Sound like management if full of the typical MBA republican fuckwads that overpopulate most corporations these days.

4. Hear! hear!
maybe they were mad that the employee was thinking ahead and strategically. Only management is supposed to do that - not the great unwashed.
