I have to admit that I'm cheering for Japan
Edited on Sun Jul-17-11 01:42 PM by RandySF
I know, I know. I'm dirty traitor. But I'm cheering for Japan in the Women's World Cup Final. Unlike the US team (who came in as one of the favorites), Japan was never expected to make it this far, especially after personal and team tragedies they suffered a few months ago. And while I know we have our own troubles, I would love to see the Japanese people have a reason to smile, at least for a day or two.

5. To be honest, me too. I really have had enough of this USA! USA! stuff,
like we need to always be #1 even against smaller countries.

Yes, it would be nice for the Japanese people to have something to smile about.

13. There are no 'turns' in sports
It's all about competition, not being nice.

9. Route and root are homophones
and there is no place on a progressive board for that.

12. OK. That's fine. You can root for whomever you wish.
I'm not rooting for either team. It's the players who will create the victory. Whichever team plays best will win the match.

I'll give that team a cheer, and then give the other team a cheer. Both teams made it to the finals. May the better team win the Cup.

19. Routing for anyone is hard, hard work.
If I'm going expend the effort, I'm going for the real under-dog. Or at least the one with the cutest butt. Gotta have some standards.

20. I'm cheering for the US for several reasons -
Teddy Kennedy for starters. If the US win they will be the first team to win three times and since they are the only country witl 2+million female players because of TitleIX I'm backing them.

What's more they have a female coach from Sweden which shows that they're not jingoistic. What's more so far they are playing the better football - three shots to goal already.

21. I hope which ever team plays better wins
I have never really understood the tribalistic aspect that sports fans assume, just seems silly and more then a bit primitive.
