Krugman- News Corp is better viewed as a criminal enterprise than as a media organization.

Thugs of the World

I obviously never had a very good opinion of Rupert Murdoch’s role in US and UK affairs. But I never expected to see the kinds of things now coming to light as the phone-hacking scandal metastasizes — hacking Gordon Brown and the Queen, bribing the police, hiring investigators to dig up dirt on the people investigating the hacking, and on and on.

At this point it’s starting to look as if News Corp is better viewed as a criminal enterprise than as a media organization.

1. GOP SOP is criminal behavior.
Steal from the needy and give to the greedy.

Thanks for the heads-up, n2doc. "Thugs of the World" is right.

4. Indeed Mr. Krugman
But because the folks on the Inside are so beholden to Mr. Murdoch and his media empire (including the formerly esteemed Wall Street Journal), don't expect too much to happen to it on this side of the Atlantic. Fox News, naturally, is doing its level best to ignore developments in England, and the rest of the popular media will soon follow suit. They've had a couple days of fun with it, but everyone will be back to the status quo ante because it's just too weird not to have Fox acting as America's Assignment Editor for the media.

Nothing to see here; time to move on before a very wealthy man is discomfited. And nobody wants to see that!

8. News Corp is not a good corporate citizen,
at all. No single individual should have as much influence over media content as does Rupert Murdoch.
