Re: Giffords shooting....where's the amateur footage?
Where are the cell phone videos? Pictures? There had to have been someone, several people somewhere in the crowd or nearby who would have been using their cell phones to shoot video or take pictures of the congresswoman's event?

Or am I crazy?

I guess I sound tinfoil hatty...but...seriously, isn't it odd that no amateur video or photographic evidence has turned up yet?

Maybe it's to come...but it's very strange to me that none has surfaced yet. Confiscated by law enforcement...sure it's possible, maybe even likely. But ALL of it?

1. the Pima County sherif mentioned at the press conference
that they had something...but I don't recall what....and he wouldn't answer questions about what they had.

Did anyone else hear that at the press conference tonight?

4. I thought I heard that it's possible that they have footage of the possible second accomplice.

5. Yeah he said they had pics of the other 'person of interest'...
The sheriff said they weren't convinced Loughner acted alone.

2. I was kind of wondering too
but they did lock that shopping center down - people were "trapped" in the parking lot all afternoon so maybe they did confiscate things. I probably would if I were the cops - could be evidence of any other suspects and that sort of thing, not to mention the shooters actions - if this is going to go into a possible insanity case it all might be relevant.

10. Agreed...
...but it only takes a click or two for someone with an iPhone or a Blackberry to email a picture or even a small video file, no?

On the other hand...in the middle of something as traumatic as that maybe people were just too stunned, and shocked to think of documenting what was happening. It was a point blank mass shooting...I don't know if I'd be doing anything but ducking for cover or freaking out myself.

7. Maybe to you it is.
But then again, you're one opinion.

8. Wanting to see footage of the event is irrelevant?
I'm betting it was all confiscated by law enforcement and is currently being picked through with a fine-toothed comb for any scrap of evidence that may be present. It makes sense that they wouldn't release it right away as the issue is so hot.

But asking if any such footage exists is not irrelevant.

9. I think i heard that there were only 3 dozen people at the event.
It's quite likely that people either ran or were too busy helping those struck by bullets. Many others would have stayed hidden because they had no idea of the gunman was still loose to inflict more carnage. By the time police cordoned off the area, it would have been difficult to get photos beyond what we've seen on tv coverage. If some photos of the crime scene had been taken, I hope the people who took it have the good sense to submit it to the police as evidence.

11. Wouldn't the supermarket have security camera footage of its parking lot and entrance?
