His (if rumors are to be believed) possibly soon-to-be-ex wife, Huma Abedin.

Seriously. She's got political experience, seems to be a good Democrat, wouldn't need to relocate (assuming she gets the house :D ), and I think she'd win in a landslide.

Why not? I think she'd be great.

1. Honestly, really insulting on about 40 levels.
I'm guessing you've never set foot in New York?

5. I have on many occasions, but I'm not catching what you're throwing.
How am I being insulting? Be specific, please.

7. I totally agree. Although I've never been in New York, I can see
where the OP's pretty insulting.

As an aside, I believe the only person who should run for Weiner's seat is Weiner himself.

8. How was I being insulting?
I'm honestly in the dark here. Huma Abedin is a self-made person, a Democrat, and a "known entity". Anthony Weiner was (without a doubt) my favorite member of the house, and we'll be hard-pressed to find a stronger rep who calls the Republicans out for their douchebaggery on a consistent basis.

I'm not suggesting a Fernando/Imelda transfer of power. I just think that she has the qualifications to run for office based on HER OWN history.

4. She's well connected
She was friends with Pelosi and the Clintons before she was even married, which is partly why the party establishment came down so hard on him.

6. She'd get all the support in the world.
I'd rather see her run for the seat than Random Dave Nutsackinski.

9. I don't think Brooklyn has a shortage of qualified candidates,
that we need to choose a person who's never been elected to anything, simply because they are married to an ex-Congressman.

10. How about Weiner? Or have we collectively decided to shun him now?

11. Honestly, I'd rather have him kicking ass and taking names in the House.
That ship has sailed, sadly. He didn't break any laws, but he got caught being an idiot. As much as I appreciate his dedication, he just can't recover from naked cock-n-balls pics. I also think that Huma Abedin would be a good replacement for Weiner's seat.
