Palin on her last 14:59 minutes of fame? Looks like it.
Palin Family Leaves Empty Mall of America Book Signing Half Hour Early

IS THIS THE END OF SNOWBILLY GRIFTING? The jihadist conspiracy of elitist liberal shopping mall patrons struck with merciless force yesterday at Minnesotas Mall of America: only 300 people showed up to attend the Sarah and Bristol Palin book signing of Bristols new memoir about her life as a drunk pregnant teenager. The family abandoned the stage half an hour before the end of the time slot because there was nobody left. So are we at last witnessing the sad finale of Real American Freedom? Our true patriots are no longer willing to give up fifteen of their last dollars to support the unemployed offspring of this screeching, nightmare opportunist woman. Wait wait, oh come on, uh, how about if Sarah Palin says, The Constitution of the United States is fricking awesome three times out loud to anyone in line? Will they hand her some of those crumpled, sweaty dollars in that case?

From the CityPages:

The rules set up by Mall of America officials for Sarah and Bristol Palins book signing yesterday seemed to have been written in anticipation of an army of fans.

Camping out is not allowed, the rules read. Beginning at 5 a.m., guests will be allowed to line up.

But there was no teeming crowd of rabid Palinites at 5 a.m. And less than a half hour into the appearance of Bristol, Sarah and Todd Palin, the crowd had dwindled to a trickle of latecomers.

10. Whew! Let's hope she's on the way out.
I can't wait for the time when the conversation goes:

"Remember that kooky Alaska lady... what was her name again?"

"Aw, gee, it's right on the tip of my tongue."

I wonder if she got the clue?
My theory is that she is comfortably numb (if you know what I mean), so I doubt it.

7. Not in freeperland. Every post about her contains several 'men' talking about her looks.
Saw one yesterday about having to take a 'cold shower' after seeing pictures of her.

But remember, they are fascinated with her because of policy.

21. To be fair to the Freepers, though, they have another rule over there.
Any thread about Dennis Kucinich must include a picture of Elizabeth.

So maybe they're not completely, totally, utterly hopeless.

Michael Douglas used to date MoDo, but dumped her when he met Catherine.

28. That's the only reason she's been able to get ANYWHERE. It's all her looks.
If she looked like ileana ros-lehtinen or mean jean schmidt (both of whom, astonishingly, keep getting re-elected) she wouldn't have gotten nearly this far. She wouldn't have gotten out of the gate, much less a luxurious fancy-ass tour bus.

This failure to accept accountability for her own actions is so characteristic.

The half-Governor remains a laugh riot right up to the bitter end.

14. Here's video of the sparse crowd
http://www.startribune.com/local/west/124751523.html

-snip-

But there were no overwhelming crowds; all those who came got through the line during the two-hour event. The Palins signed about 700 books, but mall officials estimated that 1,500 people attended the event -- some merely strolling by and stopping to gaze over the rotunda railing.

But Mom will only sign books for those who also buy her daughter's.

Oh noes! That sounds a bit elitist, doesn't it?

18. maybe Michele Bachman was at the other end of the mall?
good stuff from the story:

"The Palins signed about 700 books, but mall officials estimated that 1,500 people attended the event -- some merely strolling by and stopping to gaze over the rotunda railing.

Jill Beck, visiting from Mandan, N.D., stood at the railing on the second floor, trying to get a photo of the Palins with her cellphone. It's not that she's a fan, she said -- "We just don't see celebrities very often in North Dakota."

apparently if you stroll by and peer over the rail from the second level to see what wasn't going on, you attended the signing. makes perfect Palin sense.

24. She actually thinks that she is not a GOP creation ... that is the funny part.
The GOP created her. They used Fox to promote her. And now, her time is nearly up.

There is a reason that Kay bailey Hutchinson was not McCain's VP choice, even thought he needed a woman.

Kay was TOO OLD, and had too much history. Palin would (generally) say what they wanted her to say. And when she strayed, they made her sit next to McCain.

Palin is done. Bachmann is Palin 2.0. They are playing Pygmalion with her now. Teaching her what to say and when to say it. SO she could be a "credible VP" ...

Palin's time is up. The GOP is out sourcing her job.

35. If this is a strategic move, I'm not seeing the genius
A disastrous cancelled bus tour, utter SILENCE on a declaration of candidacy and a total LACK of the usual overblown rhetoric on everyday events.

Or if I'm mistaken, there's ZERO coverage of it.

Stick a fork in her. She's done.
