Chavez Appears in Images, Video Alongside Castro to Dispel Health Concerns
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-06-29/chavez-reappears-in-images-with-cuba-s-castro-following-surgery.html

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez appeared in still images and a video broadcast on state television alongside Cuba’s Fidel Castro yesterday in what his government said should dispel rumors of deteriorating health.

Chavez, 56, was shown dressed in a tracksuit with the Venezuelan flag as he spoke standing with Castro outside in a garden in Havana and inside where one of his daughters attended the meeting. A thinner Chavez was shown looking at Cuban newspaper Granma with Castro, the same paper that published the last images of the leader on June 18.

“These images should bring calm to the Venezuelan people about the president’s health and those that have been speculating about his condition,” Information Minister Andres Izarra said after the broadcast of the images. “Images speak more than 1,000 words.”

Chavez, who has filled Venezuelan airwaves during his 12 years in power with speeches that can stretch as long as 6 hours, hasn’t spoken publicly since calling into the Telesur television network on June 12, two days after being operated on to remove a pelvic abscess. Izarra and Vice President Elias Jaua both said they spoke with Chavez by telephone yesterday.

1. Remember when the Cuban-American Republicans in Miami said Castro was dead?
They started that rumor, oh, about 30 or 40 separate times.
