Sarah Palin bus tour not dead, but still shrouded in mystery
By Peter Grier, Staff writer / June 23, 2011

Sarah Palin’s bus tour has not been canceled, if you haven’t heard. It’s on hiatus. Ex-Gov. Palin took to social media yesterday to complain that news reports about the end of her One Nation motorized vacation were in error.

She said on her Facebook page that the coming weeks are busy for her due to civic responsibilities – she’s been called for jury duty.

“The next leg of the tour continues when the time comes. In the meantime, no one should jump to conclusions – certainly not the media with their long track record of getting things wrong or just making things up,” wrote Ms. Palin on Facebook.

Look, we’ll be the first to agree that the media isn’t all Ted Koppels. A traveling press pack can seem like a bunch of circus clowns. (Remember the astronaut movie “The Right Stuff”? A comedic theater troupe was cast as the Permanent Press Corps.) But we think that in this case, Palin protesteth a bit too much.

5. What does "called to jury duty mean? Has she been
chosen to sit on a jury? If not then, "jury duty" could mean showing up for 1 day and not getting picked.

21. It probably means she's in the pool.
I'm almost sure she hasn't been selected for a jury, but they probably told her to keep herself available for jury selection for the next xx days. With that letter, she's got jury duty, if you stretch the point a little.

8. Not really
She hasn't announced as a candidate (yet) and I'm not sure even that would qualify. It's not generally an easy thing to get excused.

you can postpone your service to a time of your choosing within the next 90 days.

7. Who is the Walrus?
Where are the Eggmen?

Can you be called for jury duty when you're no longer a resident? I'd be interested to see her subpoena. The long form. Nothing less. Otherwise, it's just a bunch of hokum.

there was a call for an investigation, for who is paying for her guided tours at national parks and sites.

On edit: I'm guessing she was presented a bill and told she would have to make other touring arrangements in the future.

10. Semantics

Saying the Grifterpalooza tour is on hold doesn't make her look like a Quitter.

Typical bullshit.

16. I always love how Palin chilidishly goes after the media..
..all the while doing things to get them to pay attention to her. "You're all bad! Now watch me show up at some event and make an ass out of myself!"

18. Alaska court rules on Jury service
Edited on Thu Jun-23-11 01:24 PM by brooklynite
...In other courts (nb-other than Anchorage), your term of service is either 30 days, 90 days or 1 year depending on the population of the area. In these courts, you may have to call in several days each month, and you may be selected to serve on more than one trial. The most days you might actually have to be present in court is 30 per year. However, you must complete any trial for which you are selected to serve as a juror regardless of how long the trial lasts.

Perhaps she can asked to be excused half way through her trial?

Who in their right mind would want to have that mean-spirited dimwit sit on their jury?

20. The 'suppliers' got busted on the way to the next show.
Happened all the time back in the Dead touring days. I understand it still happens with Phish tours now. When the parking lot scene ain't happy, the show ain't happy.
