I have a little good news to share...
This coming Friday, I'm going to be an uncle. A biological uncle. My brother and his wife are having a baby boy!

:applause:

As many of you know, Ginny and I didn't have children of our own, and she was incapable of getting pregnant. I do not regret this, but it does give me pause when I realize that this little boy may be the closest thing to a son that I'll ever have.

I'll have to make sure I stay close to that kid, because he's gonna be far out. Congratulations to the new family!

:applause: :woohoo: :applause:

8. You are too kind
Ginny once said I'd have made a great father to any children she had. I don't know if that's true, but she truly honored me.

Only two days away - I can't wait!

:hi:

6. Congrats! Uncles have a special role.
My brother is an excellent influence on my boys, especially as they enter the more difficult teen years.

He spoils them rotten, but in a good way. He encourages them to different experiences and food, and even takes them for a week during the summer.

15. That's an interesting idea
I only have one bedroom, so that probably isn't going to work, but I should definitely take him on some outings.

10. Being an aunt or uncle is almost as good as being a grandparent
All the joy of knowing the kids and the fun of spoiling them without any of the responsibilities. And when they wear you out or get annoying, you can send them back to their parents!

Congratulations to you, your brother, and your sister in law.

16. I so agree. I'm almost ashamed to admit I probably have more
fun as an Aunt than I did as a mother. Of course, for the very reason that you can send them home.

24. We never had children but we've had great fun as aunt and uncle
Now we're into the great aunt and uncle role, which is not as much fun - we don't get to see them as often and don't have as much endurance to play with them.

12. Congrats!....Recommended Reading material
Here is a little reading material you may want to give to the father to be. My brother, my son's uncle, gave it to me on the birth of our son.

Letters to my Son.

In some cultures the uncle is the most important relative in a boy's life.

25. CONGRATULATIONS, aunts and uncles are very special
people. The most special people in my life were my aunt and uncle who didn't have children of their own. They were a combination second parents and grandparents (who I didn't have), all gone now but I still miss them. I know you and your wife will both be a very special aunt and uncle. :-)

26. Our kids were blessed with a favorite aunt/uncle
who never had kids, and although they have since divorced the children (now teens) still enjoy hearing from them and visiting with them whenever possible. Enjoy your new nephew!

30. Congratulations!
I have 4 kids of my own, but only one brother and he has no kids in his mid-30's. While I'd like to be an auntie someday, I wish my brother felt the same way about my kids as you do about your nephew. Your nephew is going to be one very lucky little guy! Congrats!
