Brookings study hints that some jobs gained in Greater Cleveland during a weak recovery pay less
Wednesday, June 22, 2011, 1:28 PM

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Greater Cleveland has done a decent job of gaining jobs in a weak recovery, but the jobs appear to pay less than they once did.

The Brookings Institution's Metro Monitor, a continuing project to measure economic performance in the 100 largest metro areas, released research into the issue Wednesday.

The study found that while the Cleveland-Elyria-Mentor area gained jobs in the first quarter of 2011, economic output in the area fell. This has been a trend during much of the recovery, said Jennifer Bradley, co-director of the Great Lakes Economic Initiative, which is part of Metro Monitor.

"Cleveland ranked second in terms of places that have brought down their unemployment rate," she said. "Where Cleveland seems to be struggling a bit is output -- the value of the goods and services produced in the region. Its output shrank by 0.3 percent."

Apparently, a study was needed for this conclusion.

2. I bet I could have done that "study" for a lot less than Brookings paid
I am sick to death of extensive (expensive) studies that only continue to prove the obvious..:grr:

The problems are known, and even how to fix them.

They don't want to fix the problems, so find things like 2 year election cycles to talk about on news.

Becuase they don't want to fix the system.

I applaud the honesty of this singer, when saying she wants change as she shakes her head no.

They really wanted everyone to think it was about 'money' and they think that way, why, becuase if you think it is about money, the group that 'prints and creates money from nothing' gets to choose what is what.

It is not that they can not fix it.

They don't want to.

Hence why the system is being changed.

And I am due beer and travel money.

And I am not broke, even without money, how about you?
