I want to thank our spineless Washington Democrats (Weiner issue)...
Who helped hasten this man out the door while doing NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING, regarding corrupt Rethuglicans who have done worse things.

Each time you opened your mouth regarding his resignation while letting the right slip away with no comment, shame on you.

I have noticed a common theme in the Washington Democrats regarding this whole Weiner deal - ALL of you asking for his resignation have done so out of YOUR own interests. Yes, you have claimed the "interests" of the Party, but in actuality it was out of YOUR own interest because while doing so you refused to try and get an ounce of flesh from the Vitters, Santorums or others. My GOD, a PUKE like Gingrich is running for the GOP nomination! He has more baggage than 100 Weiners.

Is it too much to ask for more Democrats in Washington to fight for US?!?!

What will it take? When will they learn if they do become the party of the people, with the interests of people at heart, then they will become unbeatable. But no, these spineless creatures want to slouch toward the short term and gobble up all the same things our opponents want. Fuck the long term needs of this country.

3. Why extrapolate things not typed?
First, where did I put the blame on any of them?

My point is the craven way they have responded to this entire thing.

Let's just take the contrast of Vitter and Coburn. Vitter breaks the actual law. Not only that, he co-sponsored the entire DOMA. Where was Nancy Pelosi's demand for a resignation?

Or how about Coburn? The guy brokers a bribery deal with Ensign. Same thing.

Where has the Democratic response to these two been other than tepid, by rote complaints?

19. Then he should have went to them immediately after the story broke
and discussed the issue and find a better way of handling it then to create that crazy story. Breibert just sat there and laughed because he had all the dirt but he waited so that Weiner and those of us who supported him, would look even more stupid.

5. No, but it's their fault for not supporting Weiner. Weiner committed no crime.
I don't like Weiner's actions, but the Democrats are stupid to let him lose his seat.

11. If Jefferson had had a Blackberry, we'd still be British.
If FDR had had a Blackberry, we wouldn't have Social Security.

If LBJ had had a Blackberry, we wouldn't have Medicare.

Every leader who has stepped up and taken risks to make our lives better has been a complete dick idiot.

Like Martin Luther King, Jr.

Maybe being a dick idiot is an important component in actually caring about the American people.

And insisting on the hypocritical Republican standards for OUR representation will be only in their interests and not in ours.

Thank you for participating in an orchestrated political assassination.

We will instead live with the legacy of the mealy mouthed corporate friendly scum that refuse to make waves. As long as you don't make waves no one notices you and no one cares or investigates you. Whoopie!

6. Toll Free Numbers To Call DC
Senate 1-888-245-0215
House 1-866-338-1015

Just ask for the lawmaker of choice if you so choose to express yourself.

I am a strong Democrat, but this matter has exposed a side of "my people" that I am ashamed of.

It is in my opinion that Rep Weiners issues here are a clear sign of some disorder/mental illness. I am certainly Not qualified to make such an assertion, but given the info at hand--that would be my guess.

Now, when we Dems learned of Sen Kennedy's illness, did we throw Him under a bus and demand his resignation because he was ill? What about Rep Giffords, certainly she suffered an injury that has brought a Lot of attention to her. Did we throw her under a bus because she was damaged? The list goes on.
We Rallied around our ill, hurting and fallen Dem Members.
But Not Rep Weiner.

I believe Rep Weiners outspoken, take No BS energy was what his colleagues don't like. We or at least I, let them know quite often "It is Rep Weiners Passion, Truth and determination to Expose the BS that I love and we, the people Need from ALL of you".

I'm pretty certain I was not alone in making comments similar to that. It is they who reside in a "politically anal and prudish" world, therefore they Fail to adequately Fight for Us!
They have lost all connection with the people they serve.

I am a Democrat, I will remain a Democrat--But I also Must call Bullshit with-in my party when I see it!
Bad move, Dem Leaders---Bad Move.
We are remiss in our responsibilities if we don't call them on the hypocrisy. They will recieve No Incentive to do better otherwise and change won't happen if we just throw our hands up in despair without first letting them know how we feel, imho.

15. This is the straw that broke the camel's back for me. I am going to register as an Independent after
being a life long Democrat. Fuck them. They're whores to the corporations just like the Repukes, even if they might be slightly more kinder and gentler on social issues.

16. my friends' actions embarrass me. opponents only embarrass themselves.
Resignation should not be the norm, but I'd like to see Democrats harder on each other than they are on Republicans. "Republicans do it" is the worst excuse I can think of.

Progressives are for the most part ok with the sexting and many will overlook the lies because they were based on sexting. But many independents, middle, and even slightly right voters (with a far right repub candidate) who may vote for Obama and even other Democrats based on policy are not okay with the sexting or lying and will avoid a party they are embarrassed by.

Also, we don't know what else is likely to come out. It hasn't stopped yet and repubs will continue looking as long as they can. If he'd been honest from the start I may believe that we've seen it all. But I'd bet there is more and if he hasn't told his wife or Pelosi the details he's at least been told by them that there better not be any more coming. He may not even remember the details, but his opponents will go through every day of his life and bring up the most trivial things.
