George Soros has wrecked economies around the World or so my repub neighbor claims, while also
claiming that the Koch Bros are not politically affiliated with the republican party in any way and this neighbor is a member of the Tea Party. :silly:

4. I have a friend from high school who thinks like your neighbor.
The poor man is also a fundamentalist Christian now, too.

We used to be able to talk about all this, but now he is totally unreachable.

It is frustrating, but we are powerless against Fox News and their religion which has brainwashed these people.

12. I hope you are kidding but if that's true, ask him
if he ever went to a public school

if he ever drove on a public road

if he ever called police or fire department

if he ever went to a park, swimming pool, drank water out of the tap or ate inspected meat.

9. Ask him what economies were those?
Then ask him what radio show he heard that on while laughing derisively.

10. I already know where he heard it........Glen Beck
:puke: And of course, he would not be able to give an answer on which economies were involved. I just found out first hand that it is impossible to argue politics with a repub. Might as well spit in the wind. :spray:

11. It predates Beck.
The massive 1992 currency speculation that netted Soros a cool $1 billion in short order isn't disputed. It didn't wreck Britain's economy, but it certainly created some disruption.

The "wrecked economy" meme goes back to 1997, when a group of ministers blamed him for run on the currencies of some SE Asian "tigers," Thailand, Indonesia, perhaps one or two others. Mahathir, who enjoyed wide support among progressives for a lot of anti-Israeli stances, took his usual anti-Semitic tone wrt Soros (which is strange, since Malaysia has a pitifully small number of Jews--but that's Mahathir) but in 2006 apparently they "made up".

"Blame," though, doesn't mean that Soros didn't make a shitload of money from currency speculation in a way that wound up hurting millions of not-so-rich workers in SE Asia. The best defense is that he wasn't really responsible for it, just profited from it, even though the result was almost surely to make it worse.

13. After a big baseball coach passed away.
Edited on Wed Jun-15-11 04:38 AM by RandomThoughts
For weeks, I kept hearing the sound of a batter hitting baseballs in a batting cage, that crisp sound of a wood baseball bat hitting a pitch.

For many weeks I would hear that sound when closing my eyes.

So I don't fret about such things, it will work out in the end, either way.
