When conservatives talk about "homosexuals" or "Jews" ...
Edited on Thu Jun-09-11 07:47 PM by Boojatta
... what are they talking about?

"Homosexuals" can refer purely to orientation (e.g. a homosexual Pope who doesn't have sex with anybody)

... or it can refer to behavior.

Similarly, "Jews" can be about religion or ancestry. Why did Jesus celebrate Passover? If Jesus was a Jew, then can we conclude that Jesus wasn't a Christian?

2. I was just watching "american Experience" on PBS last night about the Stonewall Riots
which i had never heard of before and they were talking about gays in a way i had never heard before. like a mental illness or disease in films from the 60s. people in NYC being arrested for crimes against nature. it was illegal to masquerade, so if you were in drag you could be arrested. amazing . something i never heard of.

4. You missed a lot.
Google the GLBT museum in San Francisco (too tired to help now). HUGE amounts of history that escaped most people. Mostly "underground."

3.  Jesus was not a christian...

...a christian is a follower of Christ. How could Jesus be considered a follower of himself?

9. If you want to watch a fundy's head explode, tell them that very thing.
Jesus was not a Christian. He was born a Jew, lived the life of a Jew and died as one, albeit rather dramatically for your average Jew of his day. The religion that bears his name wasn't invented for at least a century after his supposed demise.

Of course, the entire story is myth and merely a rehash of more ancient myths, so there you go.

10. I've Always Thought That Conservative Christians Were Just Jews In Denial...
Because they sure like and tend to follow the Old Testament (Torah basically), waaaay more that they like and follow the New Testament (the story and teachings of Christ).

11. Conservatives are generally WASPs.
Either you're one of them or everybody else.
