STOCKTON, CA - Kenneth Wright does not have a criminal record and he had no reason to believe a S.W.A.T team would be breaking down his door at 6 a.m. on Tuesday.

"I look out of my window and I see 15 police officers," Wright said.

Wright came downstairs in his boxer shorts as the officers team barged through his front door. Wright said an officer grabbed him by the neck and led him outside on his front lawn.

"He had his knee on my back and I had no idea why they were there," Wright said.

According to Wright, officers also woke his three young children ages 3, 7, and 11, and put them in a Stockton police patrol car with him. Officers then searched his house.

5. nonetheless, it begs the question...
...why is the DEPT OF EDUCATION sending swat teams to people's homes in regard to defaulted student loans? This is totally disproportionate use of force, and totally inappropriate use of public resources to threaten and terrorize Americans for the crime of being in debt. If the person they were actually seeking had been there, would their actions have been any less inappropriate? I don't think so.

6. If swat teams can't come into your home at 4am...
and shoot you for having a gun, or at least kill your dogs, point guns at your children and rough up everyone in the house -THEN THE TERRORISTS HAVE WON.

9. Here's the thing that gets me
Run up massive debt on a credit card or walk away from a home mortgage and one can declare bankruptcy and suffer little repercussions. My parents recently filed for bankruptcy and so did my brother. They didn't have to sell their stuff or move or have their wages garnished. But student debt, the debt taken on in the hope of educating oneself to be a more productive member of society, cannot be forgiven.

So on top of higher education being insanely expensive and stories of it not being worth it since there are so few job opportunities available in today's economy now we have stories like this. Not exactly going to encourage people to want to get an education.

And you're right it does seem like an abuse of power.

11. You make a Great Point
a point I have thought about alot since I am still paying off college debt from years ago. The only way I was able to continue to pay, was by adjusting my lifestyle extremely for the last several years. I received help through a personal loan from my family so that interest rates don't kill me later. If I didn't done so, I'd be paying student loan debt for the next 15 years or so, and by that time, I'd have nothing to retire on. So was it waste? Yes, because the system is corrupt.
