If you want to express support for Congressman Weiner, here's an e-mail address.

It's on his facebook page.

I sent him a short note expressing my support for him and letting him know, we still need him to fight for us.

I told him to try not to take things too hard. After I sent it, I realized that was an especially unfortunate choice of words on my part. I hope his staff won't end up interpreting it as a sarcastic letter or trying to make fun of the situation. It's not my fault that something like 75% of the English language consists of words that can be used as double entendres.

I know we are all saddened and disappointed. Many are angry. But I hope we will remember that this is a man who has spent many years trying to sweep back the tide of Republican evil. Maybe we owe him something for that, in spite of the dumb mistakes he's made.

1. Done
Dear Congressman Weiner: This is a tough time for you, but please remember the millions of Americans who are facing even tougher times and still need you out there fighting the good fight. As long as the media keep working to make you a household name, you have a great opportunity to deflect the glare onto the issues close to your heart, in particular the criminal actions of Clarence Thomas.

Next time someone sticks a mike into your face and asks about the photos, why not say something about the real criminality and ethical vacuum that Clarence Thomas represents? You haven't hurt the public and you never will, but he has and will continue to if not removed from the bench.

Best of luck to you as you continue your career.

6. Do you feel that way because you feel he's detracting now from the work of the party, or
because you feel he's done a bad job over the years, or...?

I'm just really sad at the thought of losing him because he's been such an effective spokesman for our side. I felt really sad too when Alan Grayson was defeated.

12. I'm getting that feeling too, and it just makes me feel so sad. Yesterday I was kind of
ticked off, but the more I think about what we are losing in him, the more sad I feel. And he seemed genuinely sorry during the interview. I started feeling kind of sorry for him. Maybe I shouldn't have.

I was just thinking today it's a shame that a man who has spent years trying to do good things for the country, can have all his good deeds wiped clean by one "aw shit" moment. But I guess that's how it goes.

20. Yeah, I agree with that, he has done some great things for his district and this country..
I thought he was POTUS material at one point. But this "aw shit" moment is much more than a "moment" and it can't be wiped clean either by anything he says. Its over.

4. No, I do not want to express support for him.
Had he been honest about all this from the beginning I likely would have felt different, but that was his choice to be dishonest to all of us.

11. It's not so much anger as disappointment of the monumental stupidity of the whole incident
topped off by the lying. We really, really did not need this distraction now brought about by a Democrat who should have known better.l

19. Oh, okay, thank you! I know everyone says he needs to go away and I understand why
they are saying that, it's hurting the party, but I just was thinking today of all these good things he has done over the years and how crappy he must be feeling right now and I guess I just wanted to reach out to him in an act of sympathy. I think on some level I felt I owed that to someone who has been on our side.

22. I wrote to the email, and said to continue to keep up on all the good work he's done
also said I'd vote for him for mayor, and that all the good he's done outweighs this non issue.

Dear Congressman Weiner,

I can not say I'm not disappointed because I am. Don't have a clue as to why someone like you would think so little of your position and the people who count on you, to do something like this. However that said. Tell the country you made a dreadful mistake, and you are sorry. Then get back to work, we need you. I have been active in politics since I began driving people to the polls since I was 16, for my Daddy who was a Precinct Committeeman for over thirty years. Once I felt like quitting when a Governor who I worked for and supported turned out to be a crook. My Daddy told me there are a lot of good/honest people in politics and we should not quit when things are not going our way. We don't quit, we work harder.

So Congressman, get to work.

23. Everyone has to deal with their own sexuality
And it's not about being stupid either, human sexuality is so basic to our existence that its urges overcome our intelligence. This is why we need to keep sex out of our decisions on who to vote for. Look at yourself, have you done some crazy things in your sex life? But I bet you are great at your job. Keep the good workers in congress and ignore their peccadilloes. We can't elect a perfect person because they don't exist. All we can reasonably do is expect them to avoid breaking the law, TRY not to hurt anyone, and NOT BE A HYPOCRITE. Beyond that, we are dealing with the problem of being a human being, something we all must struggle with.

P.S. Everyone lies too. In fact, people who claim that lying is the worst thing, really get judgmental about it,... are the biggest liars of all. Still, some lies are very harmful, so with lying you have to give a little, but you still have to figure out how lies will affect your vote. My strategy: Consider the harm it does to the constituency. Some lies rise to the level of fraud, like "Free markets will make us all rich!" or "There are WMDs in Iraq!" or "Now is the time to cut spending and balance the budget!" or "Privatization is more efficient!" Lies about your personal sex life mean nothing in this context.
