The Sanctimonious Priggery Concerning Weiner Is More Annoying
then the juvenile behavior he engaged in.

Put on a scale, the good work Weiner has done far outweighs the stupid.

1. I hope that is kept in mind, right now it's a full on attack from all sides
Feinman on MSNBC says he's gone.

2. I don't know why Americans are so obsessed with the details of the sex lives of political people.
In Europe this would be a non-issue.

7. Agree!!! Americans have always been so sexually repressed they need a
good airing to release their sexual frustrations while assuring them they are so moral and Christian. So they all pile on the Weiner so to say.

Yes, in Europe this would be a non-issue. There are far more important and valid things to judge a politician by ...

Many Americans would be IMO extremely embarrassed if their sexual exploits / habits were exposed. It's all so hypocritical IMO.

8. The problem I have with it
is that this was a young girl. If it were my daughter I would be furious. Then he lied.
Other than that it IS a non issue.

and hey, its a good distraction from the issue of clarence thomas.

people rushing to condemn weiner make me question who's side their on. he's not some hypocritical "family values" candidate who scapegoats the LGBT community. republicans went after him because he's effective at taking them on in the media.

The number of people around here who have taken to their beds over this is pathetic. And comical, when you can get past the annoying part.

5. It's not about piety
It's about Wiener lying to everybody, instead of just saying either, "No comment," or, "Yes, I'm guilty, but it's between my wife and me--please let us have our privacy while we deal with this issue in our marriage."

But when you create this farfetched story about being hacked, people are going to feel justifiably betrayed.

9. Up til today, the hacking story was the most logical. Yfrog changed their format because of this.
Unless you prefer to take Breitbart's word for it. And we also found out far right freaks stalk young women who follow Democratic pols on twitter.

So, yeah. It was very possible and likely he was hacked. Until today.

12. The hacking bit was the most logical of all...
Hackers are at it every day... and Brietbart tries to squash people with lies every day. I don't blame anyone for thinking he was hacked, and I most certainly don't think the idea of a hacking is far fetched. That was the most believable bit.

You think that's worse than flirtations, petting, and having actual sex with someone other than their spouses? Did you read the entire conversations? Do you know for a fact that someone wasn't flirting back... heavily?

with their coming out of the woodwork.

I think Rep Weiner engaged in sexting, prior to being married and bad habits, if you will, continued. That said, I don't think it's a harmless act that only effects him. He left a visual/virtual trail. He's a public, political figure. His actions effect others. And, he was admittedly reckless. Why? IMHO, he needs help. I hope he'll get that help soon, and then get back to working for good causes.

29. Agree so much!!! It's bad enough to do this when under the public spotlight, but then
to lie about it's really stupid. The truth on all of this eventually comes out, there's certainly been enough exposure, so to say, of that over the years. Many people think politicians lie anyway, many do, but this just confirms it all and makes ones credibility really sink. It's the lying that gets to me. Far better IMO to say I F'ed up on day 1.

27. You said it.
The "I feel betrayed", "I will never trust him again".

There is a reason the entire country of France was laughing their collective asses off at us during the Clinton "scandal".

The sanctimonious puritanical pearl clutching that this country wallows in, makes it easier for Weiner to lie then just say "Fuck all of you, it's none of your goddamned business"
