When the gop want to change the thinking of their followers they have
to implement a whole infrastructure of thinking into those minds so that something like "medicare changes" will have a easy place to fit into and be accepted by the base. It is the only way to make complicated issues simple. So they come up with a narrative
(like liberals are like heroin addicts with their spending on entitlement programs and that they need to be weaned off government spending no matter how much big government yells and screams) that medicare 'reform' will fit nicely into. The democrats have for the last three weeks tried to talk about Ryan's medicare voucher plan to the extreme agitation of the GOP. Why? Because the GOP had yet to roll out their 'heroin addict mind infrastructure' and they didn't want democrats to get to the minds of their base & independents first..... before they had a change to build up the narrative in people's minds. See this link for more on what the gop has rolled out to give Ryan's medicare 'reform' a safe harbor in the minds of the gop base:

Psychopaths play mostly with timing as the gop does in this case. They also get upset if you mess with their plans and timing, as the gop has been in the last few weeks. Now that the gop infrastructure is out there, we can only hope this heroin narrative does not stick. Hopefully Democrats have informed enough people in the interim, about Ryan's plans to destroy medicare, that it will stick in enough people's minds for Obama to win in 2012.

1. Throw this in their face

'At no time since 1945 when Republicans have been in total charge of both elected branches of government have they ever reduced spending. They talk about it a lot, but they never deliver.'

and this one

'The fact is that Reagan was able to push his tax cuts through both Houses of Congress, but he never pushed through any reduced spending programs. His weak leadership in this area makes him directly responsible for the unprecedented rise in borrowing during his time in office, an average of 13.8% per year.'

2. The "control the cretin vote" philosophy has served them well these last 30 years.
