Poll question: Do you hate the fact the war in Afghanistan is officially called operation enduring freedom'
"Operation Enduring Freedom" (OEF) is the official name used by the U.S. government for the War in Afghanistan, together with three smaller military actions, under the umbrella of the global "War on Terror" (GWOT).

I find the official name for that war
hypocritical, embittering, a misnomer

Maybe Operation Enduring War is better after 10 years

2. After 8 years of Bush, I feel about the word 'freedom' like homophobes feel about the word 'gay.'
I have an irrational animosity towards it.

5. A famous Russian diplomat once told America, "We are going to do something much worse,

we are going to deprive you of an enemy" paraphrased of course. He might not be famous to many, but his statement made him famous in my eyes.

from "Ground Zero" to illegal wars to Sarah Palin's media-whore tour.

It's the only way to get enough morons to buy what you're selling.

10. Only because they should have named it Operation Endless Bullshit
I'm used to our government and military making a mockery of the word freedom. They do "enduring" pretty well, as already witnessed by their long misadventure in Vietnam.

16. Now, esp. with OBL gone, Afghanistan is the what excuse will we use war?
The war is part of the long war described in the PNAC 2000 Defining Anerican Defenses road map.

The strategy is to have a zone of influence from the Black Sea across the Caspian Sea to the Indian Ocean that divides Russia, China, Iran, and India and provides pipeline routes to Asia and western Europe out of the Caspian Basin.
