Police in Delaware have discovered evidence that a former Pentagon aide may have been involved in an attempted arson days before his murder, a law enforcement source has told The Inquirer.

Police found evidence linking John Parsons Wheeler 3d to devices planted at the New Castle home of a neighbor with whom he had been feuding, said the source, who is close to the investigation. The feud was over the size of the neighbor's house, which was under construction in the city's historic district.

The source emphasized that the evidence does not shed light on the murder itself, but it has helped detectives understand Wheeler's state of mind before he disappeared.

the less I think this was a murder

the man was "disturbed" so I'm not sure if it's that far-fetched to think he climbed into a dumpster and passed out or something and was picked up accidentally by a dump truck

there might be planted incendiary devices - but where were they planted. Could the evidence found have been planted? Hmmmmm......

Seems like somebody was/is trying to make Wheeler out as being unstable. I wonder what could have made him so disturbed? Was somebody threatening him? and if so - why and what about? What did he know that somebody didn't want to come out? Who is that somebody?

He was not a stupid man. Why would he take a chance like that of blowing his case? And how did they determine that he was the one who planted the devices?

He was an expert on Cyber Wars according to reports.

And what would his death, days after the planting of incendiaries, have to do with that? Acting disoriented, how would planting incendiaries cause you to act disoriented, for days?
