GOV CHRISTIE IS A FAT PIG. Thinks A Family of 3 makes $6,000 A Year Is Too Rich For Medicaid
espite recent polls that show Americans are just as protective of Medicaid as they are of Medicare, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) is trying to gut the popular program in his state and prevent 23,000 people from receiving benefits. Christie has proposed cutting Medicaid eligibility to absurdly low levels: from the current maximum income of $24,645 to $5,317 a year for a family of three. Apparently, the governor believes a family of three making $6,000 a year is simply too rich to receive Medicaid.

The New Jersey press has reported that the main effect of his proposal would be to slash help for the working poor, tearing a huge hole in the states social safety net:

Adults in a family of three that makes as little as $103 a week would earn too much to qualify for health care provided by Medicaid under a sharply curtailed program Gov. Chris Christie wants the federal government to approve this year, according to state officials and advocates briefed on the proposal.<...>

The Christie administration is expected to propose cutting the maximum income level of Medicaid from $24,645 to $5,317 a year for a family of three <...>

That is about a third of the poverty level, Castro said. That means that an uninsured parent working full time at a minimum-wage job wouldnt be eligible. A parent who works half-time for minimum wage wouldnt even qualify.

TELL YOUR FRIENDS.... TWEET THIS. THIS FAT HOG NEEDS TO BE IMPEACHED. READ MORE HERE.

4. But you can't find ONE Republican saying CEOs gouging consumers for a $6mil salary is too much.
"If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we've got to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that he commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that WE JUST DON'T WANT TO DO IT." - Stephen Colbert

Cannot repeat this enough - grateful to DUer who posted this Colbert quote.

THAT WAS 8 FREAKIN YEARS AGO. how in hell does this joker think a family of three even survives on 5317 a year? does he think he's being funny or something? is he that stupid? never in my life have i seen this country in the hands of such complete incompetence across the board ... i hope e.coli/global warming/name-your-disaster takes us out and takes us out QUICK. we don't deserve to be stewards of this planet.

These guys are so out of touch...

<snip>

But when asked about more mundane matters - like the price of some basic staples - Giuliani had trouble with a reporter's question.

"A gallon of milk is probably about a $1.50, a loaf of bread about a $1.25, $1.30," he said.

A check of the Web site for D'Agostino supermarket on Manhattan's Upper East Side showed a gallon of milk priced at $4.19 and a loaf of white bread at $2.99 to $3.39. In Montgomery, Ala., a gallon of milk goes for about $3.39 and bread is about $2.
