Syria tortures and kills a 13 year old and then calls for an amnesty
Edited on Wed Jun-01-11 12:17 AM by applegrove
for all Syrians arrested in an attempt to change the thinking of demonstrating & democracy loving people in Syria. The horror of what they did to that child stops people cold...especially if they have children of their own. They then have two choices as the Pollyanna in them kicks in: take the path of demonstrations and risk absolute horrors or here, an amnesty for all your previous crimes against the state.... this way...this way....this way. Pollyanna will not want to live in a world filled with horrors. The syrian people have always had a choice but Bashar al-Assad has just upped the anti a hundredfold. Psychopath!

1. What they did to that child is so far beyond sickening that I cannot
even describe how it makes me feel -

"His head was swollen, purple and disfigured. His body was a mess of welts, cigarette burns and wounds from bullets fired to injure, not kill. His kneecaps had been smashed, his neck broken, his jaw shattered and his penis cut off.

What finally killed him was not clear, but it appeared painfully, shockingly clear that he had suffered terribly during the month he spent in Syrian custody."

Hamza Ali al-Khateeb was only 13 years old.

4. I have three sons and reading that yesterday made me feel
physically ill. I posted this on my facebook page yesterday - http://www.smh.com.au/world/tortured-youngster-becomes-rallying-point-for-syrians-20110530-1fczc.html and I hope it's true that Hamza will become the Khaled Said of Syria.

5. I know, I know. The horror of it. Yes. I too hope the Syrian people are strong. I think they are.
There were demonstrations today that even involved children. How brave the people are. How very brave indeed.

6. Thank you for telling me that there were demonstrations today. I
haven't read anything about it since yesterday. Yes, those people are very brave! Here, we think we have it bad when the police arrest us (I'm a codepink member and we get arrested pretty often, lol) but we are so very fortunate that when we do get arrested, we aren't treated the way people in other countries are. My heart breaks for his family, but I pray that his death will bring about major change.

8. Right, so when I hear about all the "war crimes" of the Israelis
around here, and how they should give back all the territory which they captured in a war fought FOR THEIR LIVES, including the Golan Heights, it makes me equally sick.

Imagine what these motherfuckers would have done to Jews whom they had captured or ruled over.

9. Good thing Assad's a doctor, hypocritical oath and all that ...
otherwise, he'd be REALLY nasty toward his prisoners.
