And if Ed Schultz had accused a Black President ...
And if Ed Schultz had accused a Black President of not really being an American he'd still be on the air.

7. He made a four minute apology for his comment as well.

Whenever a Republican is forced to apologize for some outrageous statement, which is rarely, it's the "I'm sorry if you were offended" variety. A totally insincere non-apology and that's always good enough.

Interesting that he made a complete apology and still got suspended by the network. I'm not sure if Ed was just being a good guy or if MSNBC might have pulled a little maneuver against him here. Guess we'll see in the coming days.

14. Ed hammers the labor issue daily.
I think GE saw this as an opportunity to get his program derailed. Calling someone a 'slut' is pretty weak tea when you look at the state of conversational discourse in this country today. I mean Dan Ackroyd was calling Jane Curtin an ignorant slut on SNL 30 friggen years ago and everyone thought that was pretty funny stuff. I watched the apology and thought it was way too long, but I wasn't expecting a suspension over a poor choice of words.

I think there's more to this than meets the eye. Ed was grating the nerves of corporate America and they used this to send him a message....we made you, we can unmake you. Assuming he comes back, lets see if there's a change in Ed's focus. That may be more disturbing to me than the fact that he called a RW corporate whore, a slut.

18. As O'Reilly noted. 'Changes are coming at MSNBC' due to the buyout.
So far this is following the pattern of Olbermann's departure.

8. So you think we should be just as foul and offensive as they are?
No thanks. If I was ok with people being foul and offensive I'd be a Republican.

Apologies just make us look weak, so we should never apologize to our enemies.

13. +1.
I'm sick and tired of hearing these foul and offensive words thrown about. As progressives/liberals we should know better and shouldn't stoop to their level.

15. I'd be a Republican if I wanted their shitty ass policies and worldview.
The rest of it doesn't mean much in comparison to me.

11. All they deserved was the standard right-wing backhanded apology.

I real sarcastic "I'm sorry if anyone on the right thought they were offended." Or something like that.

12. For the record, the suspension was a bit much
I think the apology would have been sufficient. But that doesn't mean, as some here seem to think, that he did nothing wrong. Even progressives are sometimes wrong. Ed seems to have realized this. A shame his fans don't seem to all get it.
