I bet there's not even 50 people here who actually understand anything about the rapture other than what they've read online. For most here it does give them another opportunity to mock and ridicule religion, especially when it is Christianity.

26. No, but unlike 99% of the posters here I have studied

and understand why the Rapture is a false doctrine in the context of Christianity. I also understand that even most of those who believe in a secret rapture do not believe that anyone knows the date. So this group represents only the tiniest of a tiny percentage of Christians, most of whom do not believe in the Rapture.

"No one" is mocking Christianity? Really? No one as in "not one"? Since I've seen so many instances here of religions and Christianity being ridiculed and mocked here why would I believe that is not the intention here.

For the record, I am at the very best an agnostic. I am not religious, I do not attend any church, I do not pray to any god. I do however respect religious people and when I disagree with them I can do it without mocking or ridiculing them. I am guessing that there are more than a few DUers though who are religious people to whatever degree they choose.

DU is two things in tandem. One, it's a contentious discussion group that can't agree that water is wet, and two, it's a travelling carnival full of jokers and jesters and motley fools. It's a poor man's Monty Python troupe, japing its way through everyone's sacred cows, including the Christians. I know some are mean and malignant, but most are equal opportunity mockers.

Needs to be addressed and not constantly put on the back burner, you must be new if you see this trend on DU to be a bit surprising. Frankly not enough threads discussing the true threat that goes with the religious right being so easily swayed even when it obviously goes against there best interests, beliefs are used to control and as we are finding out, being controlled does not leave far too many feeling safe and content.
