Democrat Daler sweeps 5 towns in special District 4 election

In a contest that some regarded as a barometer of the state’s current political climate, Daler won all five towns in the district, topping Kucmas even in his home town of New Boston, which is also a traditional GOP stronghold.

State Democratic Party Chairman Ray Buckley weighed in on Daler’s victory later Tuesday night.

“Jen Daler’s massive victory tonight is a complete and total rejection of the reckless Republican agenda that Bill O’Brien has been forcing upon Granite Staters,” Buckley wrote in a statement.

Buckley said the result sends a “loud and clear message” that “right to work for less, defunding and destroying public education, the irresponsible House Republican budget, and the rest of the Republican job killing agenda …is at odds with New Hampshire values.”

The special election in New York (house of reps seat, national) is now just a week away, momentum has finally tipped the race towards Democrat Kathy Hochul. After weeks of intense campaigning in a race that was supposed to be easily won by Republican Jane Corwin, the Rothenburg Report has now dubbed the seat "Toss Up/ Tilts Democratic."

Republicans hoped to sway momentum back in their favor by attacking Tea Party candidate Jack Davis, but according to the Report, chipping away at Davis's support doesn't appear to actually be converting voters to Corwin, like the GOP had assumed.

Two possible reasons? Corwin's support from the key players in the national Republican party, as well as her support of the Ryan plan to eliminte Medicare, may be turning off voters in her district who aren't as accepting of the plan to eliminate the social safety net. Also, having the Tea Party Express campaigning on her behalf, when the Tea Party group is at its lowest popularity yet, may be doing more harm than good.

4. That would be great news if only the alternative meant less Republican
legislation, which doesn't seem to be the case much, even when we had Senate, House, and President who were given a very strong mandate do stop the Republican madness. Instead we are in more wars (sorry police actions), there are more poor and homeless, the rich are even richer while the working stiffs are even poorer,... yeah, whooptido.

5. You are assuming a functional U.S. Senate.
The Democrats did not have a "very strong mandate" in the Senate. With present senate rules that would have meant 60 plus Democratic Senators.

6. Pshaw. The pres had the mandate, but he prematurely rolled on everything, at which time
what was Reid to do, really? Poor Nancy was the only man at the top with any balls at all.

8. You really believe Obama had Blue Dog Senators
like Ben Nelson and Blanche Lincoln on "everything"? This is not even considering Joe Lieberman. You must be joking.

10. Yes they were thorns, but Obama rolled so fast and didn't need to
on so many things that he should've held a harder line on, should've shamed them, etc. He has not been a leader for change, just another bought and paid for politician. He had the mandates, he had the pulpit, he failed miserably.

11. Also let's not forget that he supported those BlueDogs in their
re-elections instead of supporting the more progressive candidates that were put forth by their constituents. You can try to absolve Obama all you want, it only shows a certain desire on your part to wear blinders.

13. I do not wear blinders.
I can see the differences between a Samuel Alito and a Sonia Sotomayor or a John Roberts and an Elena Kegan. I have my differences with Obama especially on Afghanistan but I will be working for him in 2012 because having been around for almost 70 years and active in liberal politics for 50 years I have a fairly good grasp of political realities.
Enjoy your little fantasy world.

12. The problem is that Obama himself is one of those Blue Dogs.
It's hardly surprising that they were so gosh darn successful in defining policy when you consider that fact.

14. I knew the Tea Party could sell tax cuts to the rich for only so long
I think the average voter is starting to realize a vote for the Tea Party is a vote against their own interests.
