Well, my GOP Presidential bracket is busted: I had Huckabee/Christie
I'll give both Huckabee and the GOP credit. Running most of the same slate that ran last time against a candidate who won in an electoral landslide makes no sense.

I'll also admit surprise. Huckabee polled well and is one of the few evangeicals that doesn't make independents cringe. Add to that that, despite the built in advantages of incumbency, and the killing of Bin Laden, the economy still sucks, people are still freaked out about the deficit, and $4 gas isn't making anyone's day.

Barack Obama won the EC 365 - 173. I can think of seven states I don't think Obama will win again unless the economy improves dramatically or the GOP runs someone who lacks broad appeal. When you look at those states, the race gets very uncomfortable.

Virginia (13)
North Carolina (15)
Ohio (20)
Florida (27)
Indiana (11)
Nevada (5)
Iowa (7)

Obama 267 v. Mythical GOP 271

Let's say I'm wrong, and Barack pulls Iowa back into the fold. It's still a narrow, nail biting victory. A lot more like Bush/Kerry than the 40 state sweep some are predicting.

It will be interesting to see where we go from here.
