WHO SAYS the porn was OBL's? NOT the "anonymous officials," who ACTUALLY said...
"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A stash of pornography was found in the hideout of Osama bin Laden by the U.S. commandos who killed him, current and former U.S. officials said on Friday.

The pornography recovered in bin Laden's compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, consists of modern, electronically recorded video and is fairly extensive, according to the officials, who discussed the discovery with Reuters on condition of anonymity.

The officials said they were not yet sure precisely where in the compound the pornography was discovered or who had been viewing it. Specifically, the officials said they did not know if bin Laden himself had acquired or viewed the materials."

And just WTH are "former U.S. officials" COMMENTING AT ALL ON THIS RAID, I'D LIKE TO KNOW.

Because they tried to hire a prostitute and asked her how much she charged. When she told them, they said she was too expensive and refused (if you were going to kill yourself the next day, why would you care what the price was?)

43. Well, I'm wringing my hands desperately inside my sandals, clutching a latte.

... hugging a couple of trees, but it's mostly about how stupid it looks for a major civilised democracy that was substantially responsible for things like liberating concentration camp victims and overthrowing Nazism during the second world war to now being reduced to waving pornography about to try and make their new bad guy look bad after he blew up thousands of people.

But if you like we can pretend that actually I really really like Osama Bin Laden. Well, I mean YOU can, I probably won't respond, but I don't really mind, now.

37. You know he killed over 3,000 Americans?
You might want to contact the FBI. They only had him at 200 deaths on his wanted poster, and no indication of how many Americans (the 200 seems an admixture of Tanzanias, Kenyans and American embassy personnel). Maybe it was a typo, or they just didn't have the benefit of "everybody knows"?

I realize that insisting on "due process," "evidence" and "rules of procedure" and suchlike isn't very popular and harshes everyone's mellow, but I haven't yet learned how to trim my principles to fit this year's fashion.

11. And so as you can see, WinkyDink, regardless of the veracity of the story...
...any attempt to find out merely the factual information about the situation will be met with the types of replies you've received so far.

It really doesn't matter to them what actually happened. Their curiosity, if you can call it that, extends no further than whether or not the outcome was pleasing. Any deeper examination is seen as potentially jeopardizing the pleasing outcome and such efforts deemed worthy of scorn, either outright or sarcastic.

They will crawl out of the woodwork and go to great lengths to make the point that they don't care. When the effort seems telling otherwise.

:)

28. "If it's true" -- it's "true" in the same way Osama was engaged in a
firefight before we learned that he was unarmed. It's true in the same way Osama used one of his wives as a 'human shield' before we learned that he did not use anyone as a human shield.

In short, it's 'true' until, as Nixon spokesperson Ron Ziegler used to say, it becomes 'inoperative' (aka a 'lie').

Intel/national security consultant MSNBC guy (Roger Cressey)suggested to Tweety outright last night there are already and will probably be plenty of psyops intended for OBL's flock generated from the ops. They'll probably be doing a steady CIA self-styled wikileaks of info mixed with dysinfo for another decade. A lot of Americans will probably consume it whole and completely uncritically in the process as well.

61. I don't. And frankly I'm getting tired of the whole thing. But between the 9-11 "truth" people, who
will insist that he was innocent, to the people who simply CAN'T deal with anything that might possibly be a plus for the Obama Administration (don't kid yourself- that's what a good deal of the pissing and moaning is about) -- to the folks who are never, ever going to be satisfied with anything the United States does, ever, under any circumstances.. yeah, my humor's wearing a tad thin.

This was a good thing. It's good he's gone. After 10 years of flailing away in a 'war on terror' aimed mostly at the wrong people, we finally got the right guy. We can debate all day as to whether 9-11 was a crime or an act of war (or, to my mind, some of both) and whether shoulda woulda coulda caught him and put him on trial (although, as I've mentioned before, this is someone who did his killing by communicating with other people. This was the one way- the ONLY way- to ensure that he could never kill again) ... that's all well and good, but at the end of the day, protestations to the contrary, there are plenty of people here who are CLEARLY mad as hell that he's dead- and that, to my mind, is pretty fucked up.

You asked for links; I haven't found the 'little old man in his jammies' quote or the 'he gave bunnies to his neighbors' -they're both out there, I swear- but here's "The gently smiling face of Osama bin Laden"

62. You took the quote COMPLETELY out of context and twisted its meaning on its head.
The way I read that was that some people over there relate to a famous image of OBL as a gentle smiling man. The same quote goes on to say that it was good to send it to the bottom of the ocean.

If all the other quotes are as twisted and out of context as that, you must realize that it impacts your trustworthiness.

64. That's the way you read it, then. Here's what's undeniable:
There are people here who will fall all over themselves explaining that he's innocent, or that the "FBI never accused him of 9-11" or (my favorite) Cheney said that he didn't do it (speaking of taking quotes out of context and misinterpreting them) ... then there's "he was unarmed".. "what we did was illegal" (how?) "we violated his civil rights" (how?)

... people have compared him to lynching victims in the south. Is that fair to victims of that horror? ...Really?

He's not as bad as "the banking cabal"

Killing him is like the slaughter of the Native Americans:

I understand standing for principle, but to deal solely in principle with a total ignorance of the extremely out-of-the-ordinary circumstance this one, particular event entailed, strikes me as deliberately obtuse. At best.

Honestly, like I said, I'm tired of the whole conversation at this point. Although the porn angle is funny, if predictable.

63. It was the ISI's porn stash. Good american porn, given
them by the CIA. Many hours to be killed while looking after the old man/asset.
