Rand Paul Channels Sarah Palin
http://crooksandliars.com/karoli/rand-pauls-twisted-ugly-logic

PAUL: With regard to the idea of whether you have a right to health care, you have to realize what that implies. It’s not an abstraction. I’m a physician. That means you have a right to come to my house and conscript me. It means you believe in slavery. It means that you’re going to enslave not only me, but the janitor at my hospital, the person who cleans my office, the assistants who work in my office, the nurses.

Basically, once you imply a belief in a right to someone’s services — do you have a right to plumbing? Do you have a right to water? Do you have right to food? — you’re basically saying you believe in slavery.

I’m a physician in your community and you say you have a right to health care. You have a right to beat down my door with the police, escort me away and force me to take care of you? That’s ultimately what the right to free health care would be.

What the hell did he just say?

1. Why did this guy even bother becoming a doctor...
He is clearly more interested in money than serving those in need...

3. He is just too stupid for words...
I'm sure he appeals to many other birds of his feather.

Talk about abstractions! Idiot.

4. What he's saying is that if we have a right to health care,
doctors will thus become our slaves.

What a load of crap. I think we understand slaves as people who are forced to work without compensation. I don't think anyone is so much as hinting that doctors will be chained in the basement and forced to treat people for free. "OK, Doctor, now that you've removed my brain tumor, here's your bowl of gruel; now get back to your cell."

BTW, the Constitution says you have the right to be represented by an attorney if you are accused of a crime. Does that mean lawyers are slaves, too? While it's true that public defenders aren't usually paid as well as private attorneys, nobody claims they are enslaved.

Idiot.

5. But, Rand, when I go to exercise my right, it sure as hell won't be with you as my provider.
And the last time I looked, the right was expressed in terms of coverage, not conscription for provision.

8. Since I have Blue Cross does that mean any doctor that takes Blue Cross is my slave?
