In light of the killing of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden on May 2 in Pakistan by U.S. Navy SEAL commandos, federal officials have warned of possible retaliation by the group.
Al-Murisi faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison if convicted of interfering with a flight crew.

Guess this happened over the weekend...

1. Chicago to San Francisco with $47 and no luggage. Huh.
Guess he wasn't planning beyond the flight.

3. Maybe not, but also doesn't sound like a member of a group
to me, lone wolf probably...
Just a kook that didn't plan very well or know that the cockpit doors are now kind of hard to get into!

4. And the passengers were hysterical.
Eyewitnesses said people were screaming and crying.

There was a retired San Mateo cop, a retired Secret Service agent and an alert male flight attendant who took action.

Otherwise, I suppose Chickenshit America would have just cried its way through the whole idea.

6. How many people can tackle a man in an airplane gangway at once?
You seem to think there should have been a general melee. Or are you thinking of the 'Airplane!' scene where the passengers line up with bats, clubs etc. to take their turn?

8. I think there should have been a dogpile at least.
There likely would have been in the months immediately post-911, followed by your 'Airplane' scenario
