1. I hope you get to celebrate the conviction of those traitors,
but I really don't care if you celebrate OBL dieing. I'm not celebrating it, but I'm not crying over it either.

2. You can choose to celebrate or not celebrate whatever you damn well please

The world doesn't revolve around you, and nobody really cares what you celebrate.

3. What do you specifically thnk they can be charged with?
I've been reading that our govt can't find criminal laws that the guys at the top broke. The little guys at the bottom had probably incriminated themselves many times over but I have a feeling you would be upset should they be prosecuted.

Normally you get the guy at the bottom to incriminate higher ups. But the provable fraud may have stopped there.

4. Where do you want to start?
Bush and Cheney lied America into two illegal, immoral, unnecessary and disastrous wars. Remember WMDs and the doctored intel? How about Valerie Plame? And what really did happen to Col. Westhusing? Then there's the money, starting with ENRON...

25. If there were a law saying that politicians can't lie, they'd all be in jail
Americans don't see deception and abuses of power by their leaders as crimes. Nixon went down because he covered up an ordinary crime. After the fact his abuses of power (which were far worse than Watergate) were all revealed. Ford didn't pardon him for those, so theoretically he could've been charged with something. But he wasn't, because America doesn't lock up our leaders for abusing their power. We instead assume that they did it with the best of intentions and were just trying to keep the country safe.

It gets old.

William K. Black made his career prosecuting lesser crimes after the S&L crisis. Thousands went to jail then. Educate yourself:

29. I know all of that. What of it is prosecutable?
Edited on Mon May-09-11 09:49 PM by dkf
Is there enough evidence that Jamie Dimon was willfully blind to the point that he can be sent to federal prison? How's about Lloyd Blankfein? They couldn't even prosecute some of those hedged funds managers that flat out misled their investors.

You must have sent me the wrong piece because in the one I read he didn't say anything about how the actions that we know about violate laws they could have prosecuted under.

28. Hunh? Do you know how to read? The OP is saying that he will
feel like celebrating the death of OBL if and when those who perpetrated the financial collapse are (tried and convicted and) behind bars.

I don't think I will celebrate the death of OBL as I understand it to have happened -- not real big on extra-judicial executions.

Who is/are 'you', and why does a deal need to be made?

Do you usually skip the first 5 words of a post?

27. K&R.
Of course the odds against true justice like that occurring is small. But that doesn't mean that we won't try like hell to make it happen.

The Wall Street banksters are every bit the terrorists (and more) that OBL ever was. And I guess you could say the same about the military industrial complex. OBL was a useful bogeyman for a decade. Now we have to find others to take his place. One good thing about being in a depression is that we might actually run out of money to be the evil doer of the world.

42. I think it's okay to multi-task
We can do both at the same time...

You can still be pleased with the fact that the bastard that killed over 3000 Americans has paid the ultimate price

and

at the same time you can be angry and push for the prosecution of Wall street and all of the other Bernie Maddoffs who are still not paying the price. I think we have to do it state by state....
