GOP Throws Ryan Under the Bus
http://motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2011/05/gop-throws-ryan-under-bus

Paul Ryan's proposal to gut Medicare sure didn't last long:

Senior Republicans conceded Wednesday that a deal is unlikely on a contentious plan to overhaul Medicare and offered to open budget talks with the White House by focusing on areas where both parties can agree, such as cutting farm subsidies.

On the eve of debt-reduction talks led by Vice President Biden, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (Va.) said Republicans remain convinced that reining in federal retirement programs is the key to stabilizing the nation’s finances over the long term. But he said Republicans recognize they may need to look elsewhere to achieve consensus after President Obama “excoriated us” for a proposal to privatize Medicare.

Um, yeah, it was Obama's fire breathing stemwinders that turned the tide. It had nothing to do with the fact that constituents hated the idea and Republicans would have lost 50 seats in the next election if they'd stuck with it. Nothing at all.

1. Make this idea stick to them
they proposed it, they own it, and we won't let them deny it

2. Have you heard if they asked Reid to cancel the Senate vote?
I was thinking that they hoped to protect the Republican senators from having to cast their votes.

4. After the bus runs over him can we back it up and run over him again?
It's ok because he has great, free health coverage that will help him recover.

7. I was thinkin I wanted to be there to trip him with my cane
and give a good shove!

The best part of the last 30 yrs I hve spent at or near the bottom. Many others are there now. When the backlash comes....

I go by Hillbilly, but I do have a decent education due to public schools. Started a career that got gone when I was found out gay in the service, my chosen field was Air Traffic control..we know how that ended.
So after losing out on that.

I worked construction, I worked in restaurants at night after construction job trying to get ahead. I also refinished furniture as a sideline.
I could never get enough breathing room to go back to school other than the Hard Knocks one.
I also worked in design field as the warehouse manager, delivery, install, truck, car and building maintenance, that was all one job.
I got a lot of exposure to the wealthy at that job and despise most of them for their attitudes to those of us who actually work. Prior to go into that firm I had no opinion one way or the other.

I would rather sleep with a copperhead snake again than deal with most of them. (That was child hood camping trip that a copper head snake crawled in my sleeping bag while I was asleep!)
I got injured, then sick and now am dependent on SS.

All these years I see criminals get off light, usually rpukes. The last 10 yrs have been just freakin amazingly crazy. We headed for the hills as it were.

Im really sick of the assholes over there on the far right pushing their ideology, prosperity gospel and greed, skinning those of us who actually make things or build things. Now when we are most in need they want to screw us out of the little and I mean damned little help we get for disabled folks.

10. But throwing him under the bus won't be complete until they agree to ...
fully fund mass transit.
