Religion/Theology forum, is the thread proclaiming the rescue in Chile of the miners was not a miracle be allowed to stand in GD and why has outright Christianity bashing, against DU's rules, allowed to continue unabashed?

jobycom says it best,

"There's something broken inside you if you are feeling offended by the use of a word that can (but doesn't have to) be interpreted as religious to the degree that you have to attack the sensibilities of others over an incredible human triumph like this."

Thanks, at least my disgust can be made public and not just in Alerts ignored.

1. The rules say that threads with purely religious content are moved to the Religion forum.
I can assure you that your alert was not ignored. The moderators discussed the alerts on the thread -- just as they discuss all alerts. Some of them felt it should be moved. Others felt that it was not a purely religious topic. Lacking a consensus, they did not move the thread.

As for "Christianity bashing" I don't see any mention of Christianity in the post. I see reference to "religious wackos," which certainly does not describe any of the believers here on DU.

To be clear: I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with the content of the post. That's not my job. My point is merely that there was no consensus among the moderators that this post violated our rules or that taking action was appropriate.

the mine, so I guess the sentence "The religious wackos are gathering but they must not be allowed to claim this one" HAS to have been for people who celebrate humans coming back as rocks....

Thank you David. In spite of my disagreeing with your reply, it is still your board, and the rules are the rules.

Be well
