Isn't TS'ing a longtime DU'er and not giving them time to say goodbye...
Isn't that a little bit like firing a longtime teacher and forcibly removing them from the school without allowing them to say goodbye (a story that was reported on DU recently).

If you think about it, you are also cutting off possibly our only way to contact a DU'ers we like on a personal level.

No more PM's and suddenly no way to contact.

Think about it, Skinner.

1. Bannning someone from a message board is nothing like firing a teacher. (nt)

2. Perhaps you don't like the analogy, however...
DU bans "disruptors", yes?

BUT there are 1) disruptor trolls that are here for a week and come with the intention of disrupting, and

2) Longt-me DU'ers that have been here for years and formed relationships, but that wind up breaking DU rules and getting booted.

There is a significant difference.

Like it or not, we do build relationships here and DU may be the only way we have of contacting these people we have spoken with for years.

It would be reasonable, I think, to allow the banned person to still check their inboxes for a short time after being banned so that they can make contact with any friends they may have.

You don't need to allow them to post anymore or even send PM's. Just allow them to check their PMs and you will be allowing DU to continue to be used as an important social media.

I think you owe us that degree of service. DU is a social meeting place and that is a fair analogy. You can kick someone out, but don't blindfold and gag them when you do so. At least allow them to hear us shout "Goodbye! Call me!"
