Some other member responds in an equally throw-away fashion.

A fight ensues.

Member returns to whine about moderators.

Was the OP throwaway? Perhaps. But it was directed at a politician and was a direct comment on what that politician was saying, in real time.

The post in reply was directed at a DU member in a way that criticized the DU member and not the topic/subject.

I appreciate that the mods deleted it. I don't think the exchange had the moral equivalency you've given it.
