When I settled in on Monday evening for my daily DU fix, I found the website unavailable. Specifically, I had no name resolution to it. The DNS servers I'm configured to use had no IP address for democraticunderground.com. I was able to navigate to any other website I chose except DU.
I changed to other DNS servers, but the condition persisted.
Wondering how widespread the issue was, I did a bit of googling, and found only this Freeper thread exulting that "Democratic Underground's website has crashed or been taken down by the Hacker Anonymous". I'll spare you the onerous chore of reading it by telling you that some level-headed Freepers decried the imagined web attack on DU, while others chided them, saying they'd probably maintain their reasonable attitude even as the liberals walked them to the ovens. Sheesh.
Anyway, now that I'm finally able to access DU again,I'm not seeing any discussion of an outage. Perhaps the DNS resolution issue was limited only to Qwest (my ISP) and its DNS servers? It seemed odd to me that only DemocraticUnderground appeared to be affected.
