One of these days soon, I'm hoping to be able to become a DU donor again.
Meantime, I'm dealing with all the ads, which in general I don't begrudge. Revenue is critical for any serious endeavor, and DU deserves it.
However, the ubiquitous ad for the movie "Sanctum" is over the line in my opinion. Its rollover/pop-up function is strategically placed so that normal mousing causes it to pop up often. I've probably triggered the ad 20 times this week.
Besides being beyond annoying, it can't be good for the advertiser. Each one of those pop-ups probably generates payment from the advertiser to DU, but I didn't want to see the ad and am not a good prospect for the movie. I am now hating the idea of the movie's existence and wouldn't go to see it for free.
I hope this does not become a trend for advertising on DU.
