Be Prepared To Endure Massive Anti-Obama/Dem Negative Ad "Carpet-Bombing" from Corporate Millions
Edited on Mon Jan-30-12 03:01 PM by Divine Discontent
You all need to be prepared for non-stop negative ads against Democrats like you've never seen.

Newt's description of him being "carpet bombed" by Mitt and the pro-Mitt Super Pacs negative ad attack is spot on. There's been over 10000 ads here in Florida for Mitt and most are negative about Newtie. So, just imagine how many 100's of thousand anti-Obama ads the corporations are going to run over the summer and early fall across America.

"Romney's campaign has spent
about $4m in advertising in
Florida, while his Super Pac,
Restore Our Future, has spent an
estimated $5m. A supreme court
ruling in 2010 removed restraints
on campaign spending, paving the
way for the emergence of the
Super Pac.
Goldstein said: "The Romney Pac
is airing more ads than the
campaign and spending much
more. The combined targeting of
Gingrich comprises an
overwhelming proportion of the
advertising in Florida."

Gingrich is supported by a Super
Pac of his own, Winning Our
Future, which is being backed by
the Las Vegas billionaire Sheldon
Adelson and his family, which has
contributed $10m this month."

1. If there's any available airtime between GOP SuperPAC Ads ...
... expect advertising carpet bombing by Democratic SuperPAC, all negative, against all Republicans and especially the Prez Candidate.

It will be the silliest of silly seasons.

But mostly, there will be no peace. Robocalls, door-to-door campaigning, emails.

2. Obama's campaign says they will raise a billion dollars and they probably will, if not
more. His campaign raised three quarters of a billion last time--and that was exclusive of so-called soft money.

And, his campaign is encouraging donations to Democratic super pacs--actually, to the super pac formed for his campaign.

So, we can expect a lot of advertising and the like from both sides.

Usually, Democrats don't spend a lot in Massachusetts, assuming it will go Dem, no matter what. So, what we in Boston see is mostly overflow from ad buys in New Hampshire. And cheap stuff, like robocalls. (Seriously, does anyone really change his or her vote on the basis of a robocall?)

And even the overflow is more than enough for me.

this time, though, we are likely to get it from all sides. Brown's election showed that Dems cannot safely ignore Massachusetts in general--and he himself is up for re-election, versus Elizabether Warren. So, we should hear a lot about that election.

And Mitt (if he is the Pub nominee) was our Governor once, so, between that and the relatively recent Brown victory, the Republicans will think there may be some hope for getting Massachusetts to go for Romney again.

So, I am girding myself more than usual.

3. The hope is that if Carley Fiorina and Meg Whitman didn't get elected

with all their personal wealth and their backers then there is hope.

I'm not putting money into the Kitty given that I've given so much for years...but little return because MY MONEY just couldn't compare. It just paid the postage for those cute mailers they send out with photo's of our Politco and "cautions" about how the world will end if I don't send them "CHECK DONATION BOX."

We "THE PEOPLE" are starting to wake up that what we contribute can't compete, anymore.

Not discouraging anyone from donating...just saying that I've had enough of it. Maybe just let the corrupt voting machines choose or the people rise up and throw folks like Fiorina and Whitman out and let them see a little hole in their gazillion accounts at the end of the year when their Tax Accountant figures up how to scam what they spent and give them a sizeable deduction.

:puke: on these PAC's and most of us being able to make anything but a "feel good for us" effort with the donations that we can afford which are so small in the whole overview of the way elections are funded after Citizens United, particularly...but, it's been going on for years before that.

Just my 2 cents....which is very cynical at this point....granted. :-(

4. Needing a billion dollars to be elected is plenty of reason for cynicism.
