Democrats won across the board tonight. The prospects for 2012 are looking up.
Edited on Wed Nov-09-11 02:38 AM by MjolnirTime
Collective Bargaining saved in Ohio

Iowa State Legislature in Democratic hands

North Carolina Board of Education in Democratic hands

Repuke Recalled in Michigan

Mississippi Abortion law Defeated

Return of same day registration in Maine

and the list goes on...

Feel free to add to it.

The point is, the pendulum has swung.
We have the momentum now.

Even in Red States, the GOP has been rebuked.
And this is just a taste of what the Public has in store for them.

haha almost forgot to mention the Kentucky Hoedown where Democrats won almost every race.
I bet Mitch McConnell wets the bed tonight. Visions of November 2012 dancing in his head.

3. Tea Party bigot in Arizona recalled
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jeff-biggers/breaking-arizona-topples-_b_1083202.html

MESA, AZ -- In a stunning blow to the Tea Party movement, a huge turnout in Mesa's conservative LD 18 overwhelmingly voted out Arizona's hardline State Senate President Russell Pearce in a historic recall election today.

As the self-proclaimed "Tea Party President," Pearce's national role as the figurehead for punitive immigration measures also turned the recall election into a referendum on the state's notorious SB 1070 "papers, please" immigration law, which Pearce had made the hallmark of his legislative career.

...

Considered the de facto governor of Arizona, the seemingly invincible and right-wing extremist Pearce became the first state Senate president in American history to be thrown out of office in a recall election. Led by an inspiring citizens movement, Pearce's downfall marks an extraordinary sea change in Arizona politics, especially in the areas of the changing electoral demographics and immigration reform policies.

Now if only AZ could get rid of that bigot of a Sheriff Arpaio.

8. A typical case of buyers remorse

This is going to become a regular occurrence. The gub'ment is bad, no new taxes talk is nice on the campaign trail or when one is pounded back a 12-pack of PBR, but when these lunatics get into office it is found they lack vision, are reactionary and radical, and even dangerous. They have contempt for the prospect of democracy where people with competing ideas work to find a workable compromise on how to best order things.

These people have no clue and are a scourge on our body politic. Sure, they'll enjoy some wins and they'll likely remain in power in the most ass backwards of locales, but when the sun shines on them, they burn and have to head back into the basement to crawl back into their coffins.

12. I live in the district next to the Pearce.
It is nice he was recalled but the voters installed another right wing extremist named Jerry Lewis. He said during the campaign that he "agreed with Pearce on the issues".

6. It's only a county board
... but Montgomery County PA voted in a democratic board of commissioners for the first time in 140 years. This is significant because it is a conservative county in a state that will probably be pretty important in 2012, and is notoriously schizoid. I'm thinking maybe that the fools who voted in Tea Party fruitloops for Governor and Senator may be feeling just a little touch of buyer's remorse.

11. Until they take money raising out of elections there will be no significant changes.
We need election reform along with a reversal of the citizens united ruling.

13. The trick is to translate victories for Dem candidates
into victories for the people. It didn't work in 2008, despite Democratic victories. I hope we can re-invent the Democratic Party into something to be proud of once again.
