President raises $70 million in second quarter--average contribution $56
Obama campaign manager Jim Messina said in an e-mail to supporters that more than 600,000 people donated to the campaign in the most recent quarter, more than the previous three months. He said more than 980,000 people have given money to the campaign, and in the most recent quarter, 98 percent of the donors gave $250 or less, with an average donation of $56.

"Getting to a million grassroots donors isn't just a huge accomplishment this early in the campaign. It's our answer to our opponents, the press, and anyone who wants to know whether the President's supporters have his back," Messina said.

The numbers include $42.8 million for Obama's campaign and $27.3 million for the Democratic National Committee, which will help Obama's re-election effort next year.

1. That's a pretty good haul considering the election is over a year away.

4. What you're seeing is the real election.
Even before we get a chance to fill in our scan-o-tronic ballot, if the incumbent raises enough money he can discourage serious contenders. So, I suppose it's a good thing he's making good money this early. That means I can stay home on election day. Getting too old to believe in Santa Clause, the tooth fairy, and U.S. presidential elections, anyways.

5. I think you're half right.
Even though you're too old to believe in Santa Clause, you probably still need to shop. Same with the election. You might not believe in the system right now, but you need to vote; at least for Dems.

6. Completely disproven, discredited horse shit.

The vast majority of his 2008 campaign money came from small donors. You are trying to perpetuate a lie based on obscuring the numbers of people who work for particular companies as employees. You have to list who your employer is when you donate. If someone works for a BP gas station as a cashier, then that gets filed under "BP". Dishonest people such as yourself have tried to twist that into something that suggests he was getting mad money from BP (and other companies). This has been called out time and time again and obliterated every single time. This time will be no different if you continue to pursue your dishonest line of attack.
