"Tea Party Gives Romney a Second Look" because "It's not enough to be right and lose."
Edited on Sun Sep-25-11 09:26 PM by ClarkUSA
The national Tea Party group FreedomWorks has begun to soften its earlier opposition to Mitt Romney as Rick Perry has faltered in recent debates, reports the Huffington Post.

Said Matt Kibbe, chairman and CEO of FreedomWorks: "Romney has an opportunity to rehabilitate himself... What Tea Partiers are looking for is someone that stands for something, but also someone that shows the political skills to win. It's not enough to be right and lose. The goal here is to win the presidency."

It's too bad Naderites weren't this smart in 2000. Then again, Nader's goal was never to win the White House for the Democratic Party.

If Romney is the GOP nominee, 2012 might be another very close election. Bickering aside, I really hope our side realizes what's at stake next year after having lived through Bush II for eight long, dark years.

With Republican governors in PA, OH and FL, Democrats need a large margin of victory, not only to hold onto the White House, but also to keep the Senate (an uphill climb) and take back the House from Tea Party control. Dedicated GOTV volunterism in conjunction with state Democratic parties and Obama For America will be needed to counter determined GOP attempts at voter fraud (just ask Al Gore and John Kerry).

1. Romney changes his empty suit to fit the occasion.
He'll say whatever any particular group wants to hear.

2. TRANSLATION: "We've received our marching orders from our financiers."
"We support Romney even though it's highly unlikely that enough voters of any party will overlook his being a Mormon."

7. Yeah, we can only hope so.
Even the Tea Party gets that winning IS the thing where the WH is concerned.

8. Romney will be the nominee.
Edited on Sun Sep-25-11 09:30 PM by KeyserSoze87
He'll pick either Michele Bachmann or Rick Perry as his running mate so he can get teabagger support. And then, after he's elected due to unlimited amounts of donations from corporations (Citizens United, I'm looking at you!), our country's transformation from a democracy to a corporatocracy will be complete. We're in so much trouble, it's downright scary.

11. Also too bad that the Progressives who pine for someone like Kucinich aren't smart enough either.
The point of having a presidential candidate is to have someone who can actually win the election, not just someone who is right, or Left as the case may be.

13. So is Romney/GOP molding the Baggers, or are the Baggers molding Romney?
Either way, ideals have been all but eliminated in order to win a Presidency. It's *that* big a deal.

15. The only principle that wins is the principle of winning.....
cause when you lose, everything else is moot!
In fact, we will become more than moot if we are that
demented in wanting punishment to where we would hand
them back the keys...willingly.
