that so many people who are in agreement on so much cant come together.
the other day, i headlined a reply to a post that was written as a complete snarkbait, "fuck obama"
the post was about ofa calling for cash iirc.
and i meant it in the context of "he has a lot of money and i will give my time and money to elect local dems to congress"and that is indeed my plan, to work to have the most liberal/progressive candidate elected to congress from my district.it is vital because if i expect any president to sign progressive legislation then it follows someone will have to write the damn stuff up.
all of you "fan club"(and i am not using this term as a namecalling device )supporters can, i am sure, attest to the fact that i have been a vocal, and i will admit, sometimes unfair critic of many of this presidents policies.i do agree that the closer we get to the election the less critical analysis from the peanut gallery we get the better.i am working on it, i promise, but if one more person tells me im not getting my glitter farting unicorn i may clutch my pearls and get the vapors!
all you who have policy issues with this president,may also(or not... everyone overplays their own importance, so i may be as invisible as Michelle bachmans qualifications for national office)be able to attest that if theres mud i am more than happy to wallow and sling it.its past time to for us all to put down our cow pies.if we must criticize obama then please do it with facts and with the thought in mind that at the end of the day,if you went to a local bar,and sat down next to another DUer unknowing,you would be simpatico on so much.
i do not like where i see DU going .i have to believe that this is one of the most useful tools in our political garage.this site allows us to organize across the world.i have seen it happen so many times and so have you unless you are in denial.i actually feel sorry for skinner and earlg and elad when i see some of the stuff going on here in the name of "politics".i know in my heart this is not the direction they ever dreamed the place would turn.or maybe im wrong i would love to hear their take on it.
now as for me i am no longer interested in fighting with people i agree with on 99% of any given subject.i am interested in sending the largest majority of dems to congress than ever before.we must all do this.this one thing will make the difference.
when progressive legislation is dropped on his desk,i honestly believe this president will sign it into law.
but we have to have a congress that will send him these bills to sign.i will no longer respond to posts with the political version of "so's your mother"
time to pull together.i know we can do it i have seen it done with my own two eyes.

It's the purpose and direction of this place that I doubt. I'm grateful to the mods tho. They must want to scream most days.

I work really hard every election. Too hard most of the time. And I hate seeing that undone here. Perhaps things will change but it may be too late to make a difference.

it has a tendency to turn into an echo chamber
many credible real statements are made but they are lost in a sea of similar posts
and many true things are said and are met with an intentional drowning out
real questions should be encouraged
it is easier to take when i think about it as a party line (if you know what a party line is outside of politics you are as old as me you poor bastard)with everyone in town listening in and commenting

10. EVERY SINGLE person in Obama's fan club on this site has advocated changing Congress.

Which has been met with derision or just a whatever. Has clearly said that we need to have progressive officials in congress in order to get progressive legislation. What we see from the CRITICS or the "hold feet to the fire" crowd is that they think Obama can do it all and instead he doesn't. Which is utterly false. Like people advocating Obama ignore the Republicans. I don't know how that's possible since they hold political office and own the house and hold a good number of the Senate. When I tell these people to turn Repub districts blue by actively participating in the district even if it's not your own, in your state---then you can help move it blue. Rather than do that--they'd prefer to bitch.

The stuff being said about DeFazio, who defeated a Republican from hell in 2010 while so many States elected those Republican crazees, belies the idea that one side here is merely calling for a more Progressive Congress to be elected, there are folks there, who do not live in Oregon, call for a primary on DeFazio. The progressive official elected by Oregon's 4th, an early Obama endorser, and one of the few honest people in DC.
We elect Democrats, then some prefer to 'bitch' about them rather than elect their own damn Democrats. Hard to see one camp here as being 'all about turning Congress more blue'. Not with the various threads against various Democrats by people who do not live in their districts, because those Democrats criticized the President.

16. On this we agree. I think most "Democrats" are exactly where you are.

They have criticisms, but most find a way to express them respectfully, and the ones who don't, get an earful from me. Why is it that Dems always seem to be shooting themselves in the foot? Remember 2000? Was H.L. Mencken right, when he said "liberals have many tails, and chase them all"?

Perfection isn't possible. It's also nearly impossible to agree with anyone 100% of the time, even in your own household. I've had one major disagreement with the President, and I expressed it early on. It was Libya. Although, I feel better about it now, I disagreed with our involvement. I understand why he did it, but I had reservations about who these rebels really were.

Most of the critique I've seen in the leftosphere about the president have been on style, and had little to nothing to do with substance. While they nitpick & outright ignore the growing list of accomplishments (don't make me drag up "the list"), they choose to dwell on what hasn't been done. America sent him a hardcore teanutter majority to work with, and I think he's handled it as well as any viable Dem could, all the while maintaining the dignity of his office.

Some are still fighting the 2008 primaries. Some are calling for a 2012 primary. When I get discouraged, I just remind myself that the leftosphere is not the real world, and that Obama's reelect numbers (among Dems) are at 73%, in contrast to Bill Clinton's 57%.

21. I lost a lot of respect for many

during nationwide LGBT policy discussions, when the attitude amongst some was an immediate kneejerk defense of all of the President's and the DOJ's actions using every far fetched, ridiculous excuse in the book. It became quite clear that some Democrats care far more about Obama scoring political points than about equal rights for LGBT Americans The entire issue for some, nationwide, is viewed through a lens of "is this good for Obama?"

I will gladly vote for Obama's re election. That was pretty much never in doubt. Did those LGBT policy fights alter my perception of a segment of the Demomcratic electorate? Yep. I have had a glimpse into a window in their souls and what I saw there was very disturbing.
