A stroke of pure political genius!
Edited on Wed Aug-31-11 02:56 PM by Raven
The Republican presidential candidates will have 4 options: schedule their debate: 1) before Obama's speech, 2) after Obama's speech, 3) at the same time as Obama's speech, 4) cancel the debate altogether. Assuming Obama gives a good speech, the candidates are screwed. If they go before they'll be compared, if they go after, they'll be compared, if they go at the same time, they won't have an audience and they'll be compared and if they cancel, they'll look like wimps I love it!.

Edited for typo.

3. Another one
Who can't be in both places at the same time. He and Bachmann have quite the conundrum don't they? Either do their JOB NOW or play hooky.

4. So y'all are assuming the House will honor the President's request?
Suppose they say no. Their argument will be that the President has had 900+ days to announce a jobs plan and now this is the only night that works for him?

5. Really?
The standards of genius have fallen considerably.

Putting an event opposite to your opponent parties debate is pretty standard stuff. Karl rove did it all the time. While tactically sound I don't really consider it 'genius.' I think at best it is Standard Operating Procedure.

7. Also, I would love to see him adjourn both houses of Congress
and then use the forced recess to appoint every held up nominee on the list.
