2. The irony
IS that the hurricane could be worse over at the White House than at the Vineyard.

10. My daughter and granddaughters are leaving on a 7:30 pm ferry to Woods Hole.
She said that they will be cancelling ferries if things get too rough. They're actually on Chappaquiddick but the little ferry that runs between Chappy and Edgartown will also have to cancel if it gets bad and then you are royally stuck...

12. Yep. They know this ain't gonna be a picnic.
They've been trying to catch a glimpse of Obama but no luck. Apparently, he's been on the golf course every day...dtr says she passes it and sees the SS cars there...I'm glad he's getting some golf games in before he goes back to D.C.

14. Me, too - and I'm hopeful that his early departure encourages
others to follow suit.

Tell your daughter she's in our thoughts!!

5. Good move - I was hoping he would come back tonight

I remember on the Monday morning of Katrina, after reading the advisory over the weekend that read like a synopsis of a disaster movie, emailing a local liberal talk host criticizing Bush for flying to the West Coast instead of to the WH. I said in the email Katrina had a potential to be as disasterous to the Gulf coast & NO as 9-11 and could take as many lives and Bush needed to be in DC and engaged.

We know how that turned out.

Must say so far Fugate looks like a helluva big improvement over heckuva job Brownie.

8. Brownie was a deliberate choice by Bushco to undermine
FEMA, one of many devices they used to that end. It is in far, far better shape under President Obama and Director Fugate. It was in good shape when Bush got it from Clinton. The awful. Now back to working order under Obama. There is a pattern there.

6. Good. He won't be strumming a guitar and eating a cake
while a hurricane hits like another so-called "president". Smart move.

7. I was just thinking about this
We have a President who is on vacation as major storm approaches the coast. Dejavu!

But no, Obama is not doing a bu$h, he doesn't plan to play guitar as the coast is decimated.

Glad he is cutting it short, it is a positive gesture at the minimum.

Doesn't he know that as President of the United States
it's his responsibility to prevent natural disasters.

Where's the leadership?
