Twenty years from now.. the Obama (he is not a liberal or Democrat crew)
will be talking about what an amazing job he did with the challenges he inherited.

Bet you a dollar to a doughnut.

23. Well, yes...just like many
are saying about President Clinton. He left the country with a surplus, and if President Gore had been allowed to assume his office, that would have continued. Even NAFTA
would probably have worked out if we'd had someone who knew what he was doing in office.

48. President Clinton left office
with the highest approval rating since WWII. In January, 2001, he had a 66% approval rating. If the 22nd amendment didn't exist, he would have been handily reelected had he chose to run again.

but I can see that he's had tough time having to take over from the crazy crew.

I would have appreciated some bigger crumbs of bread tossed this way and I will be ecstatic if he keeps all hands off SS and Medicare. If not I definitely won't be saying what a great job he did.

28. yeah ...
I voted for BO and was 100 percent certain he was not going to have investigations of Bush when I did.

Not sure what candidate you voted for.

BTW - congress is where investigations like this are generated - see, Clinton, Bill.

One Nancy Pelosi vowed prior to the dems taking the House two years prior to BO winning the presidency that they would not investigate Bush.

NOW, I don't like it, I would prefer to have these scumbags held accountable for what they did, but ...

NO ONE was interested in doing it. And, again, I was 100 percent certain that BO was not going to push for it when I voted for him.

41. Your ignorance of how our government works is so profound that
one hardly knows where to start.

Investigations like this are NOT routinely generated in Congress, although the work of special counsels and federal grand juries often culminates in congressional investigations.

If what you said were true, then why did BO feel a need to announce publicly that there would be no investigations in the interests of "looking forward, not backward"? He could have simply passed the buck to Congress, according to your version of how government works.

Whatevs.

Greenspan gave Clinton the growth with the free money policy. Clinton repealed Glass-Steagall and let Wall Street run amok.

Obama and Bernake don't have that option because the jig. Is. Up. No more air to blow bubbles with.

I've also said that 20 or so years from now, these same (mostly white) liberals who act as though he's El Diablo himself will be RUNNING, not walking, RUNNING to claim his ass as some liberal champion while right now they criticize every breath the man takes.

These folks did the same thing to MLK. King was absolutely HATED by mainstream whites when he was alive, though they still preferred him to Malcolm who was much too "scary." Fast forward 50+ years and every damn body just loves to quote the man and act as though they ALWAYS loved him. They use his face as their avatar, quote him in their sig line while mysteriously minimizing/distorting what he actually was. As if he was anything but a black rights activist, which is not only what he was incredibly passionate about, it is what he is known and lauded the ENTIRE world for and it's what he died for.

Anyone who thinks these folks won't be doing the same thing to Obama has not been paying attention. EVER.

53. Amen. Truth all the way.
When the 'Liberals' that never got a dirt under their fingernails one day in their lives for a paycheck finally look back, they'll be procaliming from the highest mountain how much they loved Presdient Obama, even though they are still all pissy over him beating St. Hillary for the nomination.

Just as it was with Dr. King, just as it was. They largely ignored the man while he was alive, afraid of alienating the white vote if they took a public stance for human rights for all, and embraced him only after he was gone.

Also, the odds of dollars being worth more than a doughnut in twenty years are pretty minimal, by the way. The bet isn't a good one, it is set up to lose.

60. What did the conversation have to do with "rather have Perry"?
Perry providing near certain potential for worse does not put lipstick on the old pig and certainly no matter how awful any subsequent Presidents are it doesn't mean I'll one day be pining away for these "salad days".

As far as the fringe shit, I'm happy to stand where my feet are along the spectrum, I have no desire or need to chase whatever new "center" is framed up. It is just fine, I'm who I was when I might be called a mainstream Democrat with a little more mileage.

It's possible, if he gets out of his Compromise Corner and stops pandering to corporations and Republicans and Teabaggers.

If his future performance is consistent with his past so far, however, I think the verdict will be more like "mediocre caretaker and lost opportunity."

I was just thinking to myself earlier today how Obama will feel about his presidency 20 years from now. I have the view that he will be very disappointed in himself. By then, he will have the life experience to understand the opportunity he had and squandered.
