Anybody else getting calls for donations from OFA?
Holy crap, I love those calls.

Tell Mr Obama I'll start giving again when he starts keeping his campiagn promise to _________, ___________________, _______________________, ______________________, _______________________, and _____________________.

And that's just for starters.

Buh bye, now.

1. Nope
And I'm a previous donor and volunteer (canvassing, etc.). Only emails.

I've in fact never gotten a call from OFA for money. Only for organizing activities or meetings.

2. I got one today. Because I was a member of OFA before we were told
to sit down and shut up.

4. mow your lawn, put away the dishes, change the oil in your car, bat clean-up for the Cards...
make it not so damn hot outside, have Bigfoot ride the Loch Ness monster like a rodeo cowboy.

There. I filled in your blanks.

6. Serious question--what is it about Obama that you like?
Edited on Thu Aug-18-11 06:58 PM by mistertrickster
I like him personally. I've shaken his hand twice.

I like his family.

I just don't like his policies . . . especially after I was so hoping he was going to at least TRY TO DO some of the stuff he said he was going to do, which I strongly agreed with and still agree with.

5. NO. I'm already a monthly OFA contributor.
DU made me do it!

I signed on due to all the pissing and moaning on DU previous to the 2010 election.

9. You do realize that your rant to them
pretty much goes nowhere other than their ear and when they vent to people about their calls - oh and in that vent.. it won't be verbatim... you'll be made to look like an ass. Essentially, all you accomplished was to create stress for someone that was trying to make calls for a cause they believe in. It isn't easy to phone bank, I've done it and it gives me new appreciation for those that do. i'm never rude - even to ones I disagree with... b/c I know how hard it is.

so congratulations.. aren't you just so smart and coy... kudos on kicking someone in the stomach that was just trying to be helpful and volunteer for something they believe in...

13. I've phone banked before too . . . many times, except I wasn't paid.
I volunteered.

Save the self-righteous lecture.

take a step back and maybe you can see that. You accomplished nothing by being so rude.

17. Bullshit.
When the money and support dries up, they want to know why.

It is essential to use this leverage, and to let them know we are using it.

That wasn't a rant, or rude. A rude rant is "that @#$$ is a lying sack of @%$^^, why the %@#$$ do you A!@#%%%%%$ keep calling me?".

What she posted was polite, to the point, not wasting their time, without any expletives or ill will.

Ive been called several times so far. The first few were via a paid fundraiser company on behalf of the campaign. I turned them down, and they were not overly polite to me. The last was a volunteer from OFA. I stated that I could not see my way clear to sign on for money or time, until I saw that Obama would fight to maintain the New Deal programs. The volunteer and I had a brief but decent conversation, and while she did not agree with me, I think she understood my frustration, and inadvertently admitted that they had been running into a lot of it.

As to the rest of it, your assertions are full of bologna. Just because someone is volunteering and doing something they believe in does not obligate me to agree with them, nor donate to their cause. My (now deceased) grandfather signed me up for some Republican propaganda thing in 2004. I had no interest in donating to reelect GWB, even though the people were well meaning and trying to be helpful to a cause they believed in.

11. Taking out your frustrations on volunteers. What a winner!
You should hope that when you once again are moved to support a candidate who floats your boat, their volunteers don't have to experience the kind of stuff you enjoy dishing out.

12. If the volunteers quit calling, after they've been asked multiple times,
They wouldn't have to listen to anything.

And most likely, they're paid telemarketers.

14. They didn't ID as volunteers. We always do when I call . . .
Which means they are most likely just guns for hire.

29. Yep, Donated Some Money
said I'd volunteer, but not until next year.

And then, the fucking NRA called, a creepy Wayne Lapierre message - Obama and The United Nations are going to steal our guns. At the end, it said press one if you agree, press 2 if you don't think that.

I have never had a call from NRA - I hate guns.
