Just thought I'd pull together all the stereotypes that are relentlessly applied by some here to anyone who disagrees or disapproves of anything related to the performance of President Obama or Congressional Democrats.
If you care to save yourselves some typing, please feel free to copy and paste the title line of this OP anytime you need to respond to someone on "the left" or the "Obama haters" or anyone else not in Total Agreement with President Obama or The Correct Agenda.

| 15. The assumption that all who deviate want those things |
|
Edited on Tue Aug-09-11 12:47 PM by Armstead
Some do, some don't, some might reluctantly be moving to a belief that a primary or 3rd party might be called for. Most just want to see Democrats actually being liberals and progressive populists again.
The point is that there are always assumptions spouted off that people who are critical of Obama all have one agenda. And some -- not all -- "defenders" of Obama use that shorthand as a way to avoid debate and marginalize anyone who voices criticism.
For example, I think a 3rd party would be a disastrous mistake. I think a primary challenge would also be a mistake. However I do believe the Democratic politicians should have to actually work for votes and support rather than blithely assume automatic support no matter how badly they behave.
I do want a pony though.

Those are not ... "relentlessly applied by some here to anyone who disagrees or disapproves of anything related to the performance of President Obama or Congressional Democrats."
They are ... "aptly applied by some here to anyone who disagrees or disapproves of everything related to the performance of President Obama or Congressional Democrats."
This one is fun too ... its not ... "If you care to save yourselves some typing, please feel free to copy and paste the title line of this OP anytime you need to respond to someone ... or anyone else not in Total Agreement with President Obama or The Correct Agenda."
It should be ... "If you care to save yourselves some typing, please feel free to copy and paste the title line of this OP anytime you need to respond to someone ... or anyone else in Total Disagreement Agreement with President Obama and Anything he does"
And its certainly not like those who support Obama don't have their "core values" questioned, right?
And I think its current fashion to call Obama supporters "infiltrators" at present, no?

I realize that people who share my own perspective have our own talking-point putdowns too sometimes. Including me, although I try to behave.
This OP was not necessarily referring to people like yourself however (at least when you're on your good behavior). I appreciate that you will actually engage and debate in good faith with people without resorting to those "talking point" put downs.

| 28. What you are doing IMO..... |
|
is taking valid arguments and instead of responding to such, turning them into slogans via ridicule, as though if a particular opinion is prevalent, it becomes invalid.
1. There have been posts here that encourage primarying Obama, directly and implied. I've seen them and read them. So are we supposed to act as though they don't exist if some don't agree? Or are you setting it up so that some should hesitate to counter that idea? What does that gain you?
2. There have been posts here that encourage 3rd party voting or not voting at all, directly and implied, as well as ops and responses within ops promoting the idea that there is no difference between the parties. So when folks who disagree with such posts respond, why do you consider that stereotypical?
3. There are many who have had ridiculous expectations of this President, and same folks continuiously speak of their "disappointment". Isn't that a stereotypical post in fact, and why aren't you belittling it?
So no...you haven't "pull together all the stereotypes that are relentlessly applied"....only the ones that you disagree with. You left the "stereotypical" responses against this President on the cutting room floor.
As for the right for folks to criticize and disagree with this administration, obviously they can post what they want...and many do...but it appears that you want to label the response of those who don't agree with them. Why?
